Wow, all this spiritual fervor over...

- Virginity -

and being forgiven, made pure, "seen as a virgin in God's eyes"....

I do sometimes forget that Virginity was the absolute centerpiece of Christ's message...so important for the human race...to be virgins....or if not, to have a complex about not being one...so that in the end the world is given the Great Commission to remain ever virginal...

...and then, finally - the human race can end and God will not have to put up with sinners....

lol.

I'm reminded of a guy I used to work with. Pretty sure his name was Matt. He was an atheist and pretty cynical, but I can't be sure why he did this...maybe to make fun of some super religious in our area? Dunno.

He stopped wearing his name tag at work and made one up that said "Hymen". People would look and smirk and sometimes someone would say "Your name's not Hymen". With a most serious expression and sincere demeanor he'd reply with: "My name... is Hymen".

Why did this come to mind? I dunno. I needed to be reminded of the silliness of so many people's focus...

It's not a silly focus to a young woman who has come to Christ out of promiscuity, and the Lord brings her a godly man to marry.

You know it is we who can't forgive ourselves. Our Father is over it already. Remember the prodigal son? His daddy never even brought up the son's sin, but greeted him with open arms. So great is our Heavenly Father's love for mankind.

No, God doesn't remind us of our sin. But when someone is no longer a virgin, physically God hasn't changed that. Spiritually He looks at us through a cross-colored lens and sees us as He sees His Son, with whom He is well pleased. But He knows we aren't really virginal physically.

Yet when we come to Him in repentance, all our sin is wiped out and God never reminds us of it. No longer does our sin interfere with our salvation, praise God!

Micah 7:18-19
Where is another God like you,
who pardons the guilt of the remnant,
overlooking the sins of his special people?
You will not stay angry with your people forever,
because you delight in showing unfailing love.
19 Once again you will have compassion on us.
You will trample our sins under your feet
and throw them into the depths of the ocean!

Hebrews 8:12
And I will forgive their wickedness,
and I will never again remember their sins.”

Hebrews 10:17
Then he says,

“I will never again remember
their sins and lawless deeds.”

The bible is filled with paradoxes.

God knows that we've sinned even when it's "forgotten" because He's still God.

IMO, when God forgives He does forget. Where I disagree with the OP is that God ALSO eliminates the consequence. THAT is what I disagree with. When one is no longer a virgin, one is no longer a virgin. Let's use an easier example: I shoot dead my neighbor (I don't even own a gun - never even held a gun - but go with me here, lol). He's lying DEAD in a pool of blood. Can God forgive me? Yes. Will God whip clean my record and forget the sin? Sure. Does my neighbor therefore rise from the dead and the pool of blood disappear. No. Recall the story of David and Bethsheba..... was David forgiven? Yes. Did the child disappear and the husband rise from the dead? No.

That's true. We need to see ourselves as He sees us. Christians are viewed by God as pure and holy because of Christ.

Lam, the article is Not about the condition of the physical body! Everybody knows that once the physical hymen is gone, it is gone, though I have heard of a surgery that repairs it. No it is not about that at all so stop thinking physical. <sigh>

Look, the Bible says this.
John 4:24
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Lord Jesus speaking to Nicodemus said this.

John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

John 3:9 Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be?

10 Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?

11 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.

12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?

From the article:

Spiritual rebirth doesn't destroy the past. It transforms it. A second chance, spiritually, means there are no limitations to what you can become. The God who made the universe out of nothing can take your past and make from it something beautiful.

In other words, the person who is doing this spiritual transformation is either forgetting the past, selectively remembering it or embellishing it so that what they think isn't the reality of the past. Got it.

So when you've stopped having sex and asked for forgiveness, can you call yourself a virgin? Perhaps you are no longer a virgin in the physical sense. But because you have been purified by God, you are virgin in his eyes. That may not clear up your reputation or your memory. But it does clear up your future with God. You are as good as new

Once you've experienced God's forgiveness, you'll still have to deal with the leftovers of your past, like guilt.

The bolded above tells me the author knows very little about true forgiveness. More spiritual fluff.

The sense of guilt won't instantly change. Like other natural consequences-pregnancy, disease, or painful memories-feelings don't necessarily disappear when God transforms your life. But their sting is taken away. So, even though you may still feel guilty, it's vital to know that, as far as God's concerned, you're not guilty. That's the truth of

1 John 1:9, where God promises to forgive us and cleanse us when we confess our sins to him. And that's the truth of Jeremiah 31:34, where God promises to forget your sins … forever.

Jesus didn't die on the cross to take away your feelings. He died to take away your sins. Cleansed of sin, you can work on transforming your feelings into a useful tool for God's service. They need not lead you downward. Transformed, they can give you compassion for the pain of other people. They can give you deep determination not to go wrong again.

God transforms your life and you experience His forgiveness! But you still feel guilt. I see. Nothing wrong with this picture.

The sacrifice of Jesus means no guilt for us who believe. All sin and its stain is removed by the blood of Jesus.

Yes, I've heard such things. Guess this means that this teaching is unnecessary since the cross?

Matthew 5:21-24

There's no need for such reconciliation between men or to take any action as Yeshua instructs, because it is all handled at the cross, right?

Plainly the author (of the article) is unaware of the teachings of Yeshua just like most Christians are.

The blood of Jesus wipes all our sin away---forever. All our guilt and shame is gone, becasue Jesus bore our guilt and shame. Christians need to embrace that truth and enjoy the freedom Jesus died to give us.

Romans 5:16
And the result of God’s gracious gift is very different from the result of that one man’s sin. For Adam’s sin led to condemnation, but God’s free gift leads to our being made right with God, even though we are guilty of many sins.

2 Corinthians 4:2
We reject all shameful deeds and underhanded methods. We don’t try to trick anyone or distort the word of God. We tell the truth before God, and all who are honest know this.

Thanks. I like witnessing plain theft that is so clear to see. Not because I enjoy theft, but because this person is so Paulian that it must be automatic with her that it becomes very obvious. Paul's words are thieving Yeshua's teaching. And this is a perfect example of how it's done in the human heart and mind.

2 Peter 3:15-16
And remember, our Lord’s patience gives people time to be saved. This is what our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you with the wisdom God gave him— 16 speaking of these things in all of his letters. Some of his comments are hard to understand, and those who are ignorant and unstable have twisted his letters to mean something quite different, just as they do with other parts of Scripture. And this will result in their destruction.

Let's say Betty has sex. A daughter is born as a result. Now ASSUMING the sex was sinful, can THAT sex act be forgiven? IMO, yes. Is the GUILT of that act ergo removed? IMO, yes. Does the baby disappear since obviously (Mary aside) one CANNOT be a virgin and have a child born to them.

The problem with the op is that it confuses the forgiveness of sins with the removal of consequences. It is simply mixing, confusing two different things.

Nope. I asked her a plain question of whether the teaching of Yeshua is valid in Matthew 5:21-24 or if that's completely unneeded since the cross and she chose to just quote Saul/Paul. Not twisting anything Bill, but I guess since you are Paulian yourself you don't see it either. Saul/Paul is the thief - he's the robber - and he robs Yeshua's teaching by replacing them with his own teachings - some of which are true - many of which are truth mixed with lies.

Pretty bold statement against someone who saw Jesus and was taught by Him, someone who wrote three quarters of the New testament and quoted Yeshua quite extensively. I know the aints in the first century did not view hium that way

Saul/Paul saw Jesus on his own testimony.
Saul/Paul was taught by Jesus on his own testimony.
Saul/Paul claims his revelations were given to him on his own testimony.

As for quoting Messiah, if we are talking Matthew and John (real disciples, not imposters) - the answer is no, Paul hardly quotes Messiah. I won't say dogmatically, but from memory I don't think there is a single one.

Paul speaks what Holy Spirit tells him to say in his letters to the churches...mostly about how to live out our faith and to grow to spiritual maturity. Calling him vile names is not of Christ.

Matthew 5:21-24 says nothing worth arguing about. It is truth.
