This is the first icon I got. I purchased it from our previous Sr. pastor because they were selling 'all' of their possessions to teach children in China on a five year commitment.

I'm fine with icons. An Ecumenical Council specifically approved of them, IF my memory serves me. I think they are often beautiful art. They are not a part of Western Christianity but that has nothing to do with their beauty or worth.

I really loved all of the diptychs and triptychs I observed in my Art History class a year ago. One of my favorites was Robert Campin's Mérode Altarpiece from the 15th century.
