Just talk to God. Open your heart to Him. I find that if I pray out loud my mind tends to stay a bit more focused. Sometimes when I pray in my head, my thoughts scatter all over the place.

-in pride
-in unbelief
-contrary to the word and thus will of God
-disrespectfully
-without gratitude
-approaching God through any other then the one and ONLY mediator the "lord JESUS"

to name a few "wrong ways "
its a rough question , volumes of books have been written on it and not been comprehensive

Right way to pray.... To God (the triune one of course) :)

You can pray the psalms or the most perfect prayer that Jesus gave to us! You can speak from the heart or even just let him know your feelings and the Holy Spirit will convey. Some people think that if you don't mean it enough that it's not true prayer, but that is false. Prayer is our way of talking to God and we are to pray at all times without ceasing (no one can do that though).

Prayer is a conversation so yes we talk to God but we should also listen for a time to hear what God has to say

Jesus tells us how to pray:

Matthew 6:6
But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.

With faith.... with humility...... and (IMO) with the awareness that God may answer that prayer not by changing situations or changing others - but by changing us, and perhaps empowering us to change the situation.

Lord, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.

Because of what Jesus has done on the cross, we can now enter boldly before the throne of grace, and address our Abba---Daddy!

Hebrews 4:14-16
So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. 15 This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. 16 So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.
