About essential belief:

Mark 16:16
Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe will be condemned.

Acts 18:12-13
But now the people believed Philip’s message of Good News concerning the Kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ. As a result, many men and women were baptized. 13 Then Simon himself believed and was baptized. He began following Philip wherever he went, and he was amazed by the signs and great miracles Philip performed.

Acts 18:8
Crispus, the leader of the synagogue, and everyone in his household believed in the Lord. Many others in Corinth also heard Paul, became believers, and were baptized.

Acts 19:4
Paul said, “John’s baptism called for repentance from sin. But John himself told the people to believe in the one who would come later, meaning Jesus.”

Where do the holy scriptures ever teach about "essential belief"?

Are you seriously ignoring the scriptures that teach us that belief is essential for one to seek baptism? Unbelievers need not apply.

Would someone please quote the verse that states, "essential belief on the part of the receiver is mandated before we can permit such to be baptized?" If such is stated in Scripture, as claimed, then please quote that Scripture.

So far, no one has produce this verse. Maybe it doesn't exist and that's why?

The command to be baptized is for those who believe. No one else. You can fuss and fume all you like, but you run up against the word of God on this and God wins.

You forgot to add the rest of that in 39: "For the promise is unto you, and to your children,"

That's just made up.

Isn't it just something that Alithis and this new character both accuse others of making up scripture that completely back up a valid point :confused2:

I reckon it's a kind of troll. Pretend that the holy scriptures do not say what they clearly do say and then pretend that some cockamamie doctrine plucked out of nothing is "biblical". Obviously baptism is about being washed clean from sins, buried with Christ and rising with him, and being born from above all of which are stated in holy scripture (Acts 22:16, Romans 6:1-14, John 3:1-5).

again...absolutly nothing to do with the tipic of baptizing babies.

its a bit embarrasing how you revert to devious false accusstions.
you cant base it on ditect unambiguous scripture so hey..just cal
people names..because that will makeyou right and scripture wrong...
ngah sorry.

You have nothing biblical to say on the subject of infant baptism because your doctrine is a heresy. So you make comments that mislead. Nevertheless Acts 22:16 tells the faithful that their infant child's sins are washed away in baptism and John 3:5 tell them that in baptism their infant child is born from above and Romans 6:1-14 tells them that their infant children are risen with Christ to a new life of goodness. It's such a wonderful perspective when one reads the holy scriptures for what they say rather than digs into un-biblical doctrines to ridicule holy scripture.

Correct. NOT "repent and ONLY AFTER THAT be baptized." Not, "Thou are forbidden to permit baptism unless FIRST, before that, the receiver weeps buckets of tears in repentance, recites perfectly the sinner's prayer from memory, and gives their written consent."

Sometimes people repent after salvation, after they have come to belief and have received Jesus. But baptism comes after one is saved---and after one has repented. We are not to be going around baptizing unbelievers---only believers. Babies cannot be believers. Therefore we do not baptize babies.

Plus, it is unsafe---they could drown!

The Gentiles listening to Peter speak the gospel message believed and were baptized in the Holy Spirit first, then they were baptized in water!

actually to be baptized -you must turn from doing your own will and OBEY god -baptism is obedience -you cant obey god while disobeying god -you must turn ways from disobeying God in order to obey him .. that IS repentance -turning away from one ..toward the other .

so sorry - nothing has changed .

so no matter which way you twist it ..your back to the beginning .

just like the scripture states "repent and be baptised ..thats the instruction .
he never says it the other way round . for rather obvious reason .

babies can't repent and the scripture never instructs us to baptise them.

If you're told to do the dishes and take out the garbage do you insist that the order is mandatory because that is exactly what your doing by making this chronological where God hasn't demanded that.

Yet, as you've persistently proven, you have NOTHING in Scripture that states the FIRST the reciever of baptism must repent and ONLY THEN is such permitted to be baptized. Indeed, you've shared many Scrptures that prove you have nothing.

so sorry - nothing has changed

So, how does that observation support the change that Mr. Thomas Muenzer made in the 16th Century, his new tradition that we are to withhold permitting baptism for those under the age of X? This change in the 16th Century we are discussing, the sole issue of this thread?

ust like the scripture states "repent and be baptised ..thats the instruction .

Yup. Again, you prove your point without biblical support. The word there is "and" not "then.' You keep proving this new tradition is without biblical support, this changed Mr. Muenzer made (that you embrace) in the 16th Century has no biblical support. You keep proving that.

You keep proving your change, your new tradition of withholding baptism to those under the age of X is baseless. You keep proving you have nothing to support your new mandate of FIRST there must be repentance or consent or X under of birthdays.

Thank you.

Yes! Our children must turn from their sins and be baptized...just as we were....when we came to faith. We teach them about faith and about Jesus and God's gift of salvation so that they will understand and receive Jesus for themselves.

Since Jesus tells the disciples to baptize and teach order should not be important. If it is then follow his command in that order.
