It's false teaching that promotes the idea that we can confer salvation to an innocent
Innocent? "Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me." (Psalms 51:5) Surely an infant needs salvation as much as any other human being. It's a lovely sentiment that makes people say babies are innocent but it is a worldly sentiment and not a godly one.

, unaware and unaccountable babe by dunking them in water.

Baptism saves NO ONE.
Folk who reject what holy scripture says about baptism are keen to say what baptism does not do (in their opinion) but not very keen on reading and explaining what holy scripture does say about baptism.
  • Baptism saves according to the holy scriptures: "And baptism, of which this [the saving of Noah's family in the ark during the flood] is an image, now gives you salvation, not by washing clean the flesh, but by making you free from the sense of sin before God, through the coming again of Jesus Christ from the dead;" (1 Peter 3:21)
  • Baptism washes away one's sins according to the holy scriptures: "And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptised, and wash away your sins, calling on his name." (Acts 22:16)
  • Baptism unites one to Christ in his death and resurrection according to the holy scriptures: "Do you not know that all of us who have been baptised into Christ Jesus were baptised into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life." (Romans 6:3-4)

Under God, our responsibility on Him is to convey the message of salvation from the cradle so that our children will come to know Jesus at an early age. Teaching! Modeling Christ! Nothing there about immersing infants in water, which is a decision made by believers for themselves!

You've written your opinion about baptism but we asked for holy scripture's teaching not your opinions.

Yes innocent. Babies bear the curse like everyone, but they do not commit sin, not possessing the understanding of sin or good or evil. God doesn't condemn those who are unaccountable. Praise God for His love and mercy for the littlest and weakest among us!

All scripture concerning baptism is about people who have a mind to grasp the truth of Jesus Christ. So, you think a toddler or suckling infant can understand salvation enough to receive it and then choose to obey God in the act of baptism? Give us all the scripture about that----not religious doctrines of men!

So babies don't need a Savior? Is that what you think? That's a different Gospel.

You've been sold a bill of goods. No one from the beginning of the Church baptized babies.
So you say, how about proving from holy scripture that infants are forbidden baptism. It is your view that infants are forbidden isn't it? Surely the holy scriptures say this clearly and precisely so that nobody would make a mistake and baptise their whole household including the children? Surely holy scripture says that infants are forbidden baptism so that nobody would misunderstand saint Peter when he said "And Peter said to them, "Repent, and be baptised every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children and to all that are far off, every one whom the Lord our God calls to him." (Acts 2:38-39) Do you think that the Lord our God does not call infants to him? Jesus said, "Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them; for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 19:14)

Babies all have a Saviour. However, baptism is not a means to salvation, otherwise one has become his own saviour.

Babies are not required baptism, as they cannot believe!

Please produce biblical references that literally teach us that babies can believe and be taught about baptism and then decide to request baptism. After all, it is by an act of one's will that one submits to water baptism.

If you can show us this, you will have our ear. Until then, not so much.

You said God doesn't condemn them.

So they have salvation in a different way than by grace through faith according to your beliefs?

Don't you claim to base your doctrine on what the holy scriptures actually say? Yet here you are contradicting what Psalm 51 says. I quoted it for you but you either ignored it or are pretending it doesn't say "I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me". Your opinion about babies is not what we're asking for. We want what the holy scriptures say and teach. Opinions like yours about babies being innocent are sweet and sentimental but not in accord with what the holy scriptures say.

More opinion, how about you show us where the holy scriptures actually teach that God does not condemn those who lack understanding? Are you telling us that being unaware is an excuse?

Infants are covered by the blood of Jesus until they come to the place in their maturing that they understand that they are sinners in need of a Saviour. God knows that time in everyone's life. We cannot dictate it, which is why we must obey God and teach them from the beginning about Jesus.

So you are saying you believe that there is a different gospel for babies in that they don't need to be saved as the bible says "by grace through faith".

In baptism, there is God's Word that brings us to faith. At least those who baptize infants know that God's Word will not return to Him empty.

Now you're just repeating your opinion. That's not what we asked for. We know what your opinion is. It is not biblical. It is in error. It is wrong.

Please produce biblical references that literally teach us that babies can believe and be taught about baptism and then decide to request baptism. After all, it is by an act of one's will that one submits to water baptism.

Didn't you read 1 Peter 3:21? Romans 6:1-14? Acts 22:16? I already quoted them for you. Don't you read the passages I quote? Surely since baptism saves us and since baptism washes away our sins and baptism unites us to Christ and we were conceived in sin we ought to be baptised as soon as possible. Surely saint Peter's assurance that the promises of the new covenant are for us and for our children and the Lord's call to being the little children to him is enough to assure any careful reader that baptism is for all of God's people and nobody who is called is to be forbidden baptism?

I agreed with the scriptures! We are all born under the curse of Adam's sin. Babies are not perfect! They are, however, innocent.

Toddlers don't have to be taught to lie or steal or to be violent. They do these things naturally! We are placed as their parents and spiritual guardians to lead them to Christ at an early age!

So...do you folks believe a mentally challenged or brain damaged person whose prognosis is to remain in an infantile if not vegetative state is going to be condemned by God should he die because he could never come to understand sin or salvation?

I don't hold to any unbiblical belief. Belief that anyone is saved by baptism is a false belief. Further study and teaching is required.

So you say but where do the holy scriptures say "babies are innocent"? I can't find any such verse in the bible, can you? As far as I can tell it's just a sentimental opinion. It isn't an explicit teaching of the holy scriptures. It's just a bit of sentimental cooing at babies.

God's Word is efficacious. Faith is a gift given to us by Him so that we can believe. Baptism and teach go hand in hand and baptism has God's Word with the waters. Don't you believe His Word can bring faith?

For some reason the wrong quote was attributed...it was this one

Believe me, if a 4 month old baby came to me and confessed faith in Jesus Christ for salvation and asked to be baptized, I would do it.

Yes you do. You teach that infants are to be forbidden baptism and that is never said in the holy scriptures. Never, not once, not ever.

Belief that anyone is saved by baptism is a false belief.
1 Peter 3:21 says that baptism saves us. You say that's not in the bible. I say you haven't looked.

Further study and teaching is required.

Baptism needs to be taught. Who in his right mind teaches a 2 month old about baptism?
