by april of 2017 support for win vista will cease..this means no more updates either automatic and manually.. which would make my pc easy target. a tech friend suggested that i get WOT (web of trust) to alert me of any potentially dangerous sites that i come across. i also am rating sites on my own. i rated CH as "good" and "trustworthy":woot: so now iam really thinking of saving money to buy a new pc...a chromebook 13.5 inch one -must be under 300 dollars.

I have Vista, too and keep getting the message that it won't have any updates. I already saw that and they keep on telling me about it. That WOT sounds good. I'm going to write it down. Maybe I'll go back to firefox but I don't know how to bookmark with it any longer. Ugh.

Thank you for rating CH!! Great idea!!!

I recently bought a new laptop and it's an ASUS with Windows 10. Already had a glitch but logged out and rebooted and the glitch was fixed. I also had issues with Skype but today I THINK I might have fixed it by installing an older version of skype and disabling the updates. Crossing fingers.

I've figured for a long time that the first line of computer defence is a healthy dose of paranoia. If you've got a decent firewall and don't do things like open unexpected attachments or click links that strangers send you, chances are you'll stop most attacks before they even happen.

My laptop runs a full virus scan every single day and, aside from an occasional tracking cookie, only very seldom reports anything untoward. If it does have a report to make it's almost invariably a virus in my email that already got tagged by my spam filter, and just sits in my spam folder until the automated cleanup gets rid of it.
