Dedicated to Aussies celebrating, well, being in Australia. Which means a whole bunch of different things to different people. But they usually involve beer or alcohol in some form. And the beach. And meat pies.

I'm off night shift and haven't gone to sleep yet. Drinking a few cold ones. In honor of Australia day, just like scores of other Aussies who are also using this an excuse.

Before you can even BEGIN to address a long term resident of this country - I must *learn you*. Yes, that's right. No teach you. hehehehe

Prior to ever uttering the common (yet sacred) phrase "G'day" with "mate", it is an Aussie requirement for Americans to repeat this phrase 10 times:

"In speaking Australian English, I must clip or eliminate many of the "r" sounds. The capitol city of Victoria is not MelBORRRRN. It is Melbn or Melbun.

When you have completed this task, you may then say "G'day". But prior to connecting it with "mate", you must do another task.

Psshhh. Well if you ever come to Aussie land, you'll need an interpreter. I know from experience, westerner's from up yonder need help here. One of my own relatives tried to use a US Federal reserve note as currency here, thinking it was "just like Mexico". He learned in short order that it's not. Us Aussies have our own ways.
