Is gambling spoken against in scripture? It seems like I've read something about it, but a massionic Jew told me it was ok because of a draidle or something. This thread just got me curious. Any insight would be appreciated.

Uhm...all of them I would think, regardless of if it is "fun"which is a selfish justification. Also spoken against, no doubt.Nope. Gambling isn't specifically mentioned but the love of money and trying to get rich is condemned in both the old and new testaments so if you're trying to win the lottery how many are doing it for pure entertainment reasonings and how many are in it for the cash?

Striving for material possession or the hoarding there off seems to me, to be spoken against in scriptures.I think you're right.
We all want God to bless us and some think this will be the way he'll do it!
Not at all. Scripture specifically says one (able bodied) must work to eat.I think it's pretty obvious that most people want to win money - anyone can enjoy the sight of balls rolling out of a machine (if they're into that sort of thing) with or without buying a ticket. But what's wrong with spending $2 in the hope of winning $1,500,000,000? If I'd won the jackpot I don't deny for a minute that I'd have bought a load of things for myself, but I'd also have done a load of other good things with it. After all, the kind of money that means I never even have to think about how I'm going to pay a bill ever again means I can also do things like pay off all the money my former church borrowed for its building project, fully fund a bunch of stuff my current church is involved with, help a couple of friends get a fresh financial start and so on.
The Bible says that the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil, but if you want to use that to teach against punting a couple of bucks on the Powerball you'd also need to use it to teach against going to to earn money for a living.
I'm not sure that Scripture is particularly vocal on fun things being bad.

Selfishness(greed/sin) is spoken against, not having fun.
Was just saying that "fun" wasn't a very good justification.
I was just wanting to find games of chance, or gambling in any form in the Bible. I vaguely recall something somewhere somewhat specifically about such.
So no one can recall any scripture that refers to gambling?

Did you hear about the guy who was told his "winning" lottery ticket was too damaged? That's his claim and now he's suing. Do you believe him that he was the winner or was he scamming?
I guess the obvious challenge would be for him to produce the winning ticket. If the winning numbers are clearly legible, the assorted barcodes on it are clearly readable and it isn't torn/defaced/mutilated etc then he'd probably have a case. But if that were the case it's hard to see him being denied the claim, so I'll hazard a guess he's probably got something like two tickets torn in half and taped together. It's easy to buy last week's winning numbers this week, tear the two tickets in half and tape the top of one to the bottom of the other.
Simple, is it within your means without putting a strain on your budget? I dont think it is any more harmful than eating things that are not good for us and we dont think twice doing that
