Just my opinion, but I think they are in their high and mighty positions as a result of serving a power behind then and that power definitely wants a nuclear war to destroy mankind to the greatest extent possible.
We all have chosen out masters and are rewarded accordingly, they by theirs and the rest of us by ours, and usually make that choice by which offers us what we want with little regard for anything else.
