I think he has a lot of people around him including J.D. Vance and others who kiss up to him and never tell him he's wrong.
They are too busy praising him for every single thing he thinks and does.

I doubt that all they tell him is praise because he's changed his path on some things and made it sound like it was his decision.

Trump is a smart man, many times he will make a beyond the pale statement to plant a seed in public thought that will eventually grow into what he wants.

Remember one thing, above all else he is a negotiator and a very good one at that.

So what if they had to rebuild the whole thing. I havent crunched the numbers but they could prolly make even more money with inmates in there instead of tourists.

They could even re-name it, Ellis Island #2 Lol. Send the illegal immigrants there for their processing into this country!

I think it's a half-baked idea and that Trump was speaking off the cuff (so to speak) and that he wasn't serious. Trump does that a lot.
