Because we are born into sin and have a sin nature from birth, also we sin and we are not automatically forgiven we have to ask for it and believe that Jesus is the son of God.

Because of Lucifer's rebellion in the old world, which was when sin and death originally entered in.

I know, most Churches don't teach the above. But God's Word does.

Per God's parable about Lucifer in Ezekiel 28, using the "king of Tyrus" as a type for the devil, God had originally created Lucifer perfect in his ways. Lucifer originally served God as the cherub that covereth. That means he was a covering cherub whose job it was to guard God's Throne. Lucifer instead began to covet God's Throne for himself, and led one third of the angels into rebellion with him against God (Revelation 12:3-4).

In Hebrews 2:14-15, and 1 John 3:8, we are told that this was the purpose of Jesus Christ coming in the flesh to die on the cross, to defeat death and the devil...

1 John 3:8
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.
KJV

In the final Chapters of the Book of Revelation, we are shown that in the world to come, after all wickedness is destroyed, there will no longer be any death, and thus no more sin. If you can imagine it, that is how things were PRIOR to Lucifer's rebellion in the old world prior to Adam and Eve.

Thus the sin of Adam and Eve was not the truly first sin which was by Lucifer. The sin of Adam and Eve was the very first sin in the flesh. That's the difference. And their sin was imparted to all mankind with death assigned so God The Son Jesus Christ would be sent to destroy death and the devil for us.

Heb 2:14-15
14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, He also Himself likewise took part of the same; that through death He might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
