Is there any particular significance to the curtain of the temple being torn in two when Jesus died?

Yes it was there because they couldn't come near to God in the holy of holies. Only the high priest could come there once a year, but through Jesus' death we can now all go to God immediately.

Sure, God opened the way through Jesus' death for us to approach him freely, humbly, and boldly, especially through our prayers.

I read that the veil in Herod's temple was 60 feet high, six feet wide, and six inches thick!

That must have been quite the ladder to get it hung up that high.
