Somehow I missed this scene which is okay. Sounds like that was a good thing. Though my overall opinion of the opening as that I was not impressed for the most part. To me it was just plain weird. Seeing the teams and Celine Dionne were the highlights for me.

I miss how this has to do with the Eucharist....

I thought the whole opening was WEIRD, just plain really WEIRD. That seemed to be the only French thing about them, otherwise a lot of non-French things were highlighted (Eifel Power designed and built by Germans, Celine Dionne, the Mona Lisa, etc., etc., etc.).

I have seen that. A friend of mine said that the director put it in as he had to make fun of Christianity to make everyone feel inclusive.

Here I thought the Olympics was free of politics and religion.
