In the news reports in my homeland (Australia) some words are very overused, such words as "Sustainable". I am sure than you can think of some that are overused in your land. Let's create a list of them.

overused words, and phrases too. One word I think , especially in Christian circles is " apocalypse" . It is applied to everything from a hot summer day to tsunamis. It means revelation but some have changed it to mean disaster.

It seems that english is not good enough nowadays, there are so many that it is useless to try to list them all

"like"

I was, like, in the line at the supermarket and, like, this dude showed up and was, like, you need to get this thing fixed.

Absolutely, when used in place of "yes".

Totally, when used where totally inappropriate - I totally saw a dude on a skateboard today (as opposed to what, partially seeing a dude on a skateboard?)

I think "from the get go" is annoying; what's wrong with from the beginning or from the start?

Yeah, and along with that, " from the outset" as opposed to what, from the " in set" ?

I was at a restaurant last week and a young lady at another table was talking this way. It was very annoying.

"Resilience" is a recent over used word from our Politicians in Oz. It gets so annoying when words get thrown around as if they mean twenty things that they do not mean and especially so when there are 20 words that mean exactly what is intended.

In sports I hear words like "hero", "warrior", "battle", etc. Not only are they overused, they are inappropriate.

Yes, and that reminds me of "genius". Quite stupid people who do something well get called Geniuses!

Like "once in a 100 years event" when it really happens every four or five years.
