They say "Nothing is ever lost on the internet" but what is something you have been searching for years and haven't found it yet?

Things are lost on the internet. Pages get deleted, not everything is archived. Working links don't work or are re-directed to something else. One of the reasons I got an extra hard drive right around the covid stuff was because I had a feeling there was a lot I was going to be saving.

There's stuff that can't be found anymore. For instance try searching "Strav" "Haggle and Rejoice!". It won't bring up any posts by me. "Haggle and Rejoice was a forum I participated in late 90's/early 2000's. It's still indexed by Google on voyforums...but all it is is advertising now, and the page history only goes back so far.

Here's an archive showing my username (Strav) at the time, although it doesn't appear any of the actual posts were archived, just the index:

https://web.archive.org/web/20011112100339/https://www.voy.com/14104/

As far as I know, that's the only proof there is that I even participated on that forum.

A series of comics I read once on BoredPanda.com. I haven't been able to find them, as I only recall vaguely what they were about.

I have not been able to access my old Photobucket (which I had for many years before it became a paid service) and it seems the email it was linked to was also purged by the host site. :(

Yeah, my Photobucket is gone too. I was getting emails recently that are probably scams wanting my login information. Sometimes people use the same passwords on other accounts, so I never click on emails to login...I go to the actual link manually. But I refuse to pay for Photobucket and use imgur now.

Things from years ago are hard to find or gone. I was searching for a song. It's so old and not popular, I still haven't found it. It's still somewhere. Some funny stuff I saw years ago, then it would immediately pop up. Not anymore. And if I look for something that I know I posted a link from, I search on that forum and yay!! Finally! Found the link. Oh. It doesn't work anymore.
