It was chaos. Obviously, these "also running" candidates were TRYING to break out of the pack - with nothing to loose because they are all pretty much in the single digits in the polls. I saw a lot of desperation last night.
Winners?
Unlike in the first debate, DeSantis seemed to get a lot more air time and attention. I think he will benefit the most from the second debate. Christie also seemed to get a lot more attention and his "anti-Trump" thing got applause from the audience this time (!!!!) but I think he's dead-in-the-water. The governor of North Dakota (forget his name) kinda of impressed me a bit but I think he's failed to get any focus. I suspect he'll soon be out of the picture (perhaps sadly).
Losers?
Haley and Scott - both of whom did well in the first debate seemed less impressive last night; in my view they may be losers (even though they are both probably MY favorites). But I think the biggest loser was Trump simply by his not showing up. He was MUCH more directly rebuked. Last time, all but Christie seemed afraid to mention him but this time, he came up rather often. Usually negatively. The obvious was evident: all these are running against Trump AND now he's seen as vulnerable. I agree with all of them, Trump should have been there. He probably was the biggest loser of the night - but I doubt that will make any difference, his fans are passionate and seem enough to assure his nomination, no matter what, literally NO MATTER WHAT.
