How did your pets do over the 4th of July weekend (for those who live in the US)?

Have any of you ever used a thundershirt for your pet?

Mine did well but was out at campground. I have not used it but I know someone who does and they say it works

They were at home while I went to a fireworks show a few towns over. Seemed fine when I got home. They've never been skittish about noises.

We live in the basement of a big apartment so we didn't hear much. They didn't scare her much.

She (my dog Peanut) gets scared of the unknown. Of things she can't see as we are in the basement and people are upstairs or right outside our window making noises.

My daughter has 2 guinea pigs. One was fine and the other one had her eyes bulging out of her head from fear. I haven't heard back today to see how she is.

Suzy has a thundershirt but didn't really need it. She would lift her sleeping head off the couch every once in awhile when an exceptionally loud firework went off. I think the fireworks bothered me more than her. lol. They really got on my nerves after several hours of them.

I had guinea pigs when I was growing up and they were fun but a lot of work. Their cage can get really smelly if not properly taken care of. They CAN be loving if held a lot but skittish if you don't bother with them. My daughter's 2 guinea pigs love to be held and cuddled so that's really nice!

Our dog is utterly terrified of loud noises (thunder, fireworks, gunshots). Even if I'm out walking him, and a car backfires across town, so all we hear is a little "pop" noise, he'll yelp and startle as if something bit him. He shivers and trembles during thunderstorms, it's so pitiful! We've talked about trying a thundershirt for him, but haven't gotten around to ordering one yet. For now, if there's a storm or anything, I just hold him and comfort him as best as I can.

Get one as a baby so you can raise it to be used to human handling. Most pet store guinea pigs have had very little human contact and are terribly skittish and impossible to handle. When they're tame, they are ADORABLE, fun pets! Super cuddly, soft, they make the funniest, cutest squeaks and squeals. They're very similar to rabbits in that they will poop everywhere and you'll have to be vigilant about cage cleaning, but it's worth it!
