Long before Moses received the Law, and long before Abraham was call by God, before any book was written, God was God and human beings were his Children.

Do you believe this?

Which part? That God was God or that humans were His children? And are you talking about Adam and Eve and their children?

I think He killed the entire world in the flood except for Noah, who found grace (unmerited favor in his eyes) and his household, probably for Noah's sake.

Human Beings were (and are) his children only in the sense that they are made in the image of God. All human beings are worthy of respect simply for this reason. God does not owe anything to any person simply because they were made in the image of God. We are all sinners and Galatians calls us Slaves to sin until we are adopted as son(children) of God through faith in Christ.

The only way anyone is "His Children" is by faith.

Galatians 3:26
For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

John 1:12
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name,

Galatians 4:4-7
4 But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. 6 And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” 7 So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.

Do you think that is true? I guess you must because you wrote it and it is stated emphatically.

Good manners suggests that God is very likely to owe something to every created being. Self consistency also suggests that God owes his creatures something. But the word "owe" has implications in English that are not intended by me. Nevertheless, "owe" is expressive of the idea I have in mind.

God is merciful to all, because he can do all, and he dismisses the sins of humanity because of repentance. Because God loves everything that exists. God hates none of the things he has made; for God would not have created anything that he hated. How could anything endure, except by God's will? Or what, having been chosen by God to not exist, would be preserved? Yet God spares all things, because they are God's, and he it is who loves souls.

We are God's children by faith in Christ. So no, not everyone was (or is) a child of God.

But only those justified by Christ's death have faith (Salvation).

Not everyone was God's child? Are you sure?

John 1:12, "But to all who received Him, who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God, who were born not of blood nor the will of the flesh nor the will of man but are born of God."

Also read 1 John 3:1-10, Romans 8;16, John 11:52, etc.

All homo sapiens are CREATIONS of God and all are in "the image of God" but "children of God" applies only to Christians.

In the beginning was every human being God's child?

Perhaps Adam and Eve.

But nowhere does Scripture state that all homo sapiens are "children of God." Indeed, Scripture suggests the opposite.

We are rebels, sinners who by our fallen nature are enemies with God.

So yes, while we are alienated from God we are totally separated from relationship with God. We are His offspring, in the sense that He made us in His image, but our sinfulness has totally broken our relationship with God.

God would be perfectly just to destroy humanity and all of creation.

The Bible call us "enemies" (Romans 5:10), "Children of Wrath" (Eph 2:3), and that we "love darkness rather than light because our works are evil" (John 3:19)

And while, from a human standpoint, some of us are more moral than others and by nature more closely follow the natural law, the fact is we are all sinners and are all separated from God. Left to our own devices we all deserve "hell" whatever that ends up being.

It is only by His Grace, through Faith, that we are reconciled with God and the Father/Son or Parent/Child relationship is established.

That is why, whenever I see someone say "We are all just children of God" I want to say "No we're not". Only those who have faith in Christ, have been adopted through a work of the Spirit, had their heart changed from a heart of stone to a heart of flesh, and are new creations in Christ are "Children of God".

God is also Just. We deserve God's justice. Love, Mercy and Grace are is not things he "owes" us. He doesn't owe us salvation, eternal life, health, joy, or any blessings. He gives those things to His adopted Children, not because He owes anybody anything, but because of His Love, Mercy and Grace.

;)

The original post, as you almost guessed, is about Adam and soon after, Eve, before the fall, when Adam was the son of God named in saint Luke's genealogy.

And Jesus himself was beginning to be about thirty years old, being (as it was supposed) the son of Joseph, who was of Heli, who was of Matthat, who was of Levi, who was of Melchi, who was of Jannai, who was of Joseph, who was of Mattathias, who was of Amos, who was of Nahum, who was of Esli, who was of Naggai, who was of Maath, who was of Mattathias, who was of Semein, who was of Josech, who was of Joda, who was of Joanan, who was of Rhesa, who was of Zerubbabel, who was of Shealtiel, who was of Neri, who was of Melchi, who was of Addi, who was of Cosam, who was of Elmadam, who was of Er, who was of Joshua, who was of Eliezer, who was of Jorim, who was of Matthat, who was of Levi, who was of Simeon, who was of Judah, who was of Joseph, who was of Jonam, who was of Eliakim, who was of Melea, who was of Menna, who was of Mattatha, who was of Nathan, who was of David, who was of Jesse, who was of Obed, who was of Boaz, who was of Salmon, who was of Nahshon, who was of Amminadab, who was of Aram, who was of Hezron, who was of Perez, who was of Judah, who was of Jacob, who was of Isaac, who was of Abraham, who was of Terah, who was of Nahor, who was of Serug, who was of Reu, who was of Peleg, who was of Eber, who was of Shelah, who was of Cainan, who was of Arphaxad, who was of Shem, who was Of Noah, who was of Lamech, who was of Methuselah, who was of Enoch, who was of Jared, who was of Mahalalel, who was of Cainan, who was of Enos,
who was of Seth,
who was of Adam,
who was of God.
Luke 3:23-38

And Christians are the children of the last Adam
Just as it was written that the first man, Adam, was made with a living soul, so shall the last Adam be made with a spirit brought back to life.

So, what is at first, not spiritual, but animal, next becomes spiritual. The first man, being earthly, was of the earth; the second man, being heavenly, will be of heaven. Such things as are like the earth are earthly; and such things as are like the heavens are heavenly. And so, just as we have carried the image of what is earthly, let us also carry the image of what is heavenly.
1 Corinthians 15:45-49

A long time ago, in the beginning, all human beings were Children of God; now all who are in Christ - the last Adam - are children of God.
