Though I'm not answering the question, I would like to suggest a gift that would provide the most longevity.
If you live in Texas and have a son or daughter that enjoys fishing or hunting, buy them a lifelong fishing and hunting license for their 18th birthday.
Back in probably the late 80's, my dad used a cherry tree from the orchard I grew up in, and he made a floor lamp out of it for me. Every few years I get a new lampshade for it to keep it current. I still have gifts my mom has given me, and even a stuffed monkey that's 58 years old (I teethed on its plastic ears) that my great granny gave me, but those gifts have not stayed relevant through the years. The lamp has, and my dad made it for me.
I have a belt I was given as a teenager. At the time it was too big for me but I grew into it. Then I grew too fat for it. Now I can (and do) wear it again.
