I was in a very weak earthquake that went through my town. I didn't know what it was at first because it felt as if a dump truck had driven toward my house and hit it! I actually went outside to see the damage and there was nothing there and that's when I suspected an earthquake. We had one other since then but it wasn't as strong as that and I would never want to feel anything even stronger than that first one!

I grew up in Southern California and experienced a number of them. In my youth I remember thinking they were weird and fun. For example, my family had 2 dogs and between 30 seconds and a minute before the quake, they would just go bonkers for no obvious reason. I remember thinking that the quakes were fun, with everything shaking.

The biggest earthquake I can remember was either 1991 or 1994 in southern California, although based on certain life circumstances, pretty sure it was the 94 quake. I remember experiencing the quake, and in the morning going out and seeing large parts of the city I was living in torn up, mostly buildings that were partially destroyed.

Same here....

I was pretty young during those in the 90's.....

The largest I clearly remember was on Easter Sunday of 2010. It was a 7.2. Things shook pretty good but there was no damage at all at our house; nothing fell over. We just enjoyed the ride. But closer, there was damage and deaths. I also remember one (can't even guess on the year) near LA. I was watching the Dodgers live on TV and they had an earthquake... the cameras showed things swaying and the players watching it. I said, "Hey, they're having an earthquake in LA!" I no more got the words out when things started moving here!

California has the reputation for earthquakes, but the largest ones have been in the midwest and south. And probably the biggest threat is in the northeast.

I felt a slight tremor once. I wasn't sure what it was so checked out the entire house, thinking maybe something had fallen in where it shouldn't, or someone had tried to smash their way in. I didn't find anything amiss so carried on with what I was doing.

It turned out the epicenter of a very minor shake was something like 300 miles away.
