Many Christians are familiar with the religion known as Jehovah's witnesses and a good number of Christians have heard members of Jehovah's witnesses say that God's name is Jehovah and that it is important to know it and use it in prayer and when speaking about "the truth". So, does God have a name, is it Jehovah, and ought one to use God's name (if he has one) in prayer and in speaking about "the truth"?

I like Abba, meaning Father.

Jesus told us to address God as our Father when praying.

Also "I AM" describes God.

The Lord Jesus Christ calls God his Father. And the Lord's prayer is addressed to "Our Father" so I agree with you that "Our Father" is an excellent name for God in public prayer. In private prayer "Father" is excellent.

The name Jehovah is not in the Bible.

YHWH (in Hebrew characters) is.
Despite much study and debate, it is still not universally agreed upon how the Hebrew name for God YHWH was pronounced. Some prefer “Yahweh” (YAH-way); others prefer “Yehowah,” “Yahuweh,” or “Yahawah”; still others argue for “Jehovah.”

Jehovah's witnesses will not pray to the Lord Jesus Christ but only to the Father and usually using the name Jehovah. They refuse to pray to the Lord Jesus because they say prayer is a form of worship and a Christian (they regard them selves as Christians, the only true Christians) ought never worship any being except for Jehovah the Father.

There is something of a siren song in the way Jehovah's witnesses go about propagating their religious views. Not many hear them out and even fewer will take a "bible study" with them but some who do end up being persuaded by their ideas even if they never join their religion.
