Extending human life.

Some people desire medical and genetic studies to offer a way to extend human life times, a few hope for never ending life from medicine. Some want to be uploaded into a virtual eternal life in a simulated reality. Interesting material for science fiction. Interesting idea with moral and theological significance.

Is it bad to want those things, to want to live forever, or for vast amounts of time if "forever" isn't possible? To strive to achieve longer and longer life in the universe as it is. What does it mean for Christianity? Your Christianity?

It's certainly not bad to want to live forever. That has always been God's intention from the beginning.

Simulated and some sort of 'virtual eternal life', is not eternal life. Being on a machine is not eternal life.

What you are describing is the desire of man to want to live forever 'here', and not die physically. And the Christian should not have that desire. We should look forward to our death, our departure from this sinful life we live.

The one who doesn't know Christ, certainly doesn't want to die, but neither does he want eternal life with God and Christ.

No one is going to live forever in this physical life as we know it. But, all are going to live forever. The question is, where will you live it? In the presence of God and Christ, Heaven? Or, outside the presence of God and Christ, Hell...or the Lake of Fire?
