I think chirlren in a family with strict rules grow up opposite and with rebellious spirts. Parents shall not preatch too much, especailly Catholic doctines. Only a good example can serve as the best sermon. Parents shall love each other, the wife and the husband, serve each other well, love one and only till the end. Parents go mass every week, no matter children would company or not. Children grow up with belief, and would believe in what they see in parents.

Since you capitalized it and your profile shows you being Catholic I'm going to assume you mean Roman Catholic for your question and not "catholic" with a small c meaning universal :D

My husband is Catholic and most Catholics are raised in fear of straying. I'm not so sure that's the best way to maintain the faith though.

The main focus should be abiding in Christ and Christ’s Words abiding in you. Dedication to Catholicism over dedication to Christ is wrong priorities.
