I read quite unusual books at times. I was reading one about SAS survival techniques when captured and in solitary confinement.
I was quite struck at the known effects of being isolated and realised that many of us have been affected to some level by the past two years of covid restrictions, which are like torture.
I can feel the damage in me of being deprived of friends and family for months at a time, along with fear of the virus and having to abide by rules . I feel so sad at the hostility among our society , the bitter turning on each other.
Let's not underestimate the mental damage done to us. After all, we are just ordinary people, not soldiers trained and aware of how to resist. Isolation, loneliness and despair have brought many of us very low.
How can we recover even now? Infections are still going on, it is uncertain what is wisest to do.

If i hadn't got my faith in Jesus, I am not sure I would be still here. I've never known such depression.

Back in the earliest days of being told to stay home my wife and I extended invitations to selected friends to come and visit if they needed some human company. The only conditions we made were that we requested people stay away if they had symptoms, we would let them know if we had symptoms so they could decide whether they still wanted to come, and that people took us as they found us (e.g. the house might not be fully cleaned)

I remain convinced the lockdowns have done far more harm than the virus would have done. Even now the talk is measuring "excess deaths" to find out how many people actually died of covid when the reality is that many "excess deaths" are due to cancelled medical procedures, deaths of despair and so on.

I'm surprised so many people were willing to obey isolation orders for so long. If such isolation were imposed upon prisoners it would be considered a breach of human rights.

Aw, I'm sorry you've been struggling.

I'm a homemaker and I stay home alone most days and truly enjoy it. The lockdowns didn't change my life as much as it did others.
