I read something recently, written by an agnostic Jew who called the book of Job a “fable”.
Does the LCMS believe it’s an historical account with an historical man (Job)? Or a fable? Why or why not?

The context of references to Job in other books of the Bible lead me to believe Job was a real person living in a real place who had real things happen to him as the Book of Job relates.

Here's a link to a good article on the subject: Book of Job: Fact or Fiction

I don't know or care what the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod believes.

I suspect the OP is LCMS and so wants to know if their church is correct on this. From what I have heard there are some very conservative LCMS congregations, and then there are some rather liberal. One might find their official position if the main LCMS website has any official articles on Job.

Yes, as we know, every Christian community, fellowship, gathering, group, and relationship is subject to differences of opinion and belief. Sometimes these lead to a parting of the ways, other times they are put aside to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

Eph 4:1-3 I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, (2) with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, (3) endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
