In 1Samuel, chapter 1. Verse 21 to 28, Hannah gives her son to the temple to live there always.

She had yearned for a son but now she gave him up. So where was the benefit to her? He would not presumably contribute to her life, have a life and marriage of his own or take care of his parents in old age. Yes she had promised God .
So were children often given up this way?

Hannah promised God to give her first son. But God blessed her with other children too

Hi,
May I ask does it say that in the Bible?

1 Sam. 2:20-21

Then Eli would bless Elkanah and his wife, and say, “May the Lord give you children by this woman for the petition she asked of the Lord.” So then they would return to their home.

Indeed the LORD visited Hannah, and she conceived and bore three sons and two daughters. And the boy Samuel grew in the presence of the LORD.

Thanks, I did not know that.
