Here’s one thing I find really cool about the holy, canonical book of Judith:
In Genesis, it says that the seed of the woman will crush the head of the serpent. And here we find in the book of Judith, it’s a woman who cuts off the head of Holofernes, the enemy general. And this takes place only a few generations before Jesus shows up, the one who truly crushes the head of the enemy -Satan, that is- that ancient serpent of old.
I also think Judith’s selflessness is really honorable. She risked her own life and safety in order to save her countrymen. That’s ultimate selfless behavior.
