What do you suppose Paul meant when he said not to boast against the branches?

When he said, “You do not support the root, but the root supports you.”

The grafted in gentile branch should not boast. The Gentiles should be warned not to be removed like some Jews were.

That was a slip on my part. Not the quote about John the Baptist in Matthew 11:11. (A related scripture about moving from the law to kingdom teaching).
But
Romans 11:18 and following warns the gentiles to see they too could be broken off.
Very sorry.

I'm not sure I understand the phrase "moving from law to kingdom teaching."

Does this have to do with a brit/covenant where blood or cut is involved?

From Moses to John the law was taught.
Luke 16:16 kjv

The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.
John taught:
Believe in Jesus, and he will baptise you in the Holy Spirit and Fire
