Texas fully opened the state 12 days ago and I've been keeping an eye on the Covid case numbers as well as deaths. You would think that such a thing would make case numbers rise, but they haven't. There has been a steady decline. That's excellent news!

You can google Texas Covid Cases to get the stats!

Yep! Some businesses still ask that you wear them but for the most part it's the free choice that's refreshing. I keep it in my front pocket in case im around an elderly person and then I put it on

I thought it had been known for some time now that California's statistics were comparable, even if slightly unfavorable, to Florida's statistics despite one having a paranoid lockdown on everything in sight and the other being pretty much open for business as usual.

It certainly seems that lockdowns aren't doing anything useful, except making people afraid of their own shadows.

I like to bring up new data when it's available. So many people online (not here) were balking about Texas opening back up, but now there isn't much talk about it since the numbers didn't surge!

True, most of the "discussion" online seems like little more than acting as if going out without a sock on your head is morally equivalent to spraying gunfire into a crowd, acting as if the lack of a mandate is the same as a prohibition, and assuming that giving anyone the freedom to think for themselves will result in endless deaths. I mean, obviously everybody except me is a selfish (expletive of your choice) who doesn't care if Granny dies horribly, but perhaps crediting people with different viewpoints a little bit of intelligence wouldn't hurt.

Aren't there like 10 other states that are also open? I need to look into that and their stats as well. It's interesting to see how stats from one section of the country are included in news reports but not other stats.

I think more and more states are opening, and the way their figures don't immediately go down the toilet is apparently proof (as if proof were needed) that ever-tighter lockdowns are the only way forward. Apparently.

Even Fuhrer Newsom has started reopening, which couldn't possibly be anything to do with the recall process gaining momentum.

Yeah, but do those states have a strong conservative Governor where the media has been all over them as they have been to Abbott lately?

Our confirmed positive in my city has been in the teens lately with ICU holding about 20 and total COVID hospitalizations around 50.

I think it is great that businesses and individual are allowed to make decisions for their self. Something it should have been all along, IMHO

It's been 2 months now and Texas is reporting 0 deaths for the 2nd straight day! Congrats, Texas! That kind of "Neanderthal thinking" that Biden claimed was happening must have not been such a poor decision after all :D

Texas isn't just all land either...there are 4 major cities in the state!

1Houston2,310,432
2San Antonio1,508,083
3Dallas1,330,612
4Austin950,807

The Houston Metro area has 7,066,141
The Dallas/Forth Worth Metro area has 7,233,323

My city (of about 350,000), as of yesterday, had 31 people in the hospital and 10 of those in intensive care. The numbers just keep going down.
