Just wondering how many of you will attempt to read the entire Bible in 2021? If so, what translation will you be using?

I read the Bible through in 2020. I actually got bogged down in mid summer but then I had health issues that put me in the hospital for 5 days (that I'm still dealing with). Being in the Hospital certainly changes perspective on things. When I got out I pretty much stopped watching TV/youtube and other media and finished the Bible up in a few months. My wife asked why I was reading the Bible so much. I replied that when you realize you could go meet Jesus at minute you really want to get to know Him better. The fact is, that is true of all of us, sickness or not. However, having health issues really brings out the fact that my life on earth is temporary. I read the ESV.

When I finished the ESV I decided to start over and chose the NLT. Honestly, after reading the ESV the NLT was like reading at a child's level. It took a while to get used to reading the NLT.

I use the KJV app for convenience but I own a good handful of bibles, inherited a few big Catholic KJV and Goodnews bibles and the brenton Septuagint Greek and English comparison bible for some studies.

I've read the bible through a few times and I've used NIV and RSV versions. I also have a KJV but I don't use that for a study at all.

The physical Bibles I use the most are NKJV. I don't often use a physical Bible as I have so many translations in electronic versions. I still tend to gravitate towards the NKJV or sometimes the ESV, but sometimes put a few translations side by side to compare different possible translations of it.

I don't think I ever use The Message. I can paraphrase it for myself if I need to.

The church I attend uses the ESV so my main Study Bible in the ESV. I use BibleGateway and the Blue Letter Bible to read other translations. I really like the Blue Letter Bible app on a tablet. However, for everyday reading I prefer a book. I got a inexpensive NLT to read this year and the Lord willing, when I finish it I'll get an inexpensive NASB to read through again.
