Over the past several weeks Trump and/or the Republicans have initiated almost three dozen challenges in various courts in an attempt to overthrow the presidential election. All but one have failed. The one that didn't forced a recount in one state. IIRC that recount confirmed a Biden win. Today the Supreme Court of the USA has turned down a Republican attempt to nullify the election in Pennsylvania. That's the end of the road for these attempts. It is interesting to note that the SCOTUS in now Republican majority with a number of Trump nominees. It seems they chose the law over Trump. The President could regain a lot of his lost credibility with a simple phone call to Joe Biden.

It’s not the end. Texas filed another case. I’m pretty sure that in the joint session in January there will be challenges of several states.

Trump unfortunately regards almost everything in a transactional way, ie. "if I scratch your back, you are obligated to scratch mine". I suggest that he felt 'if I can just get a case into the Supreme Court they are obligated to judge my way.' They refused to even hear the case with no dissenting opinion at all. His expectations of a tame court have fallen through almost completely. My estimation of the US court system has risen considerably in the last few weeks. I am pretty sure that any further challenges will likewise fail.

All in all Donald Trump has been the worst disaster to befall the USA in its history. If that isn't bad enough, it was a self-inflicted wound.

I agree with your reaction to the courts. But the dismissal you refer to was a different case. They haven’t dismissed the Texas case yet.

There's one more step: the joint Congressional session. It could well turn into a side show. I'm hoping McConnell will convince people not to do that. Forcing Republican senators to have to vote on state electors is a no-win political situation for them. No matter which way they vote they're going to make people unhappy. I think 2 years from now "this guy voted to disenfranchise millions of people" could easily cost someone the election in a close race. But failing to support Trump could as well. Much better to convince Republican senators not to force a vote in the first place.
