In the US, some governors are asking people to skip Thanksgiving this year due to covid. Will you make any changes to your holiday plans?

This year my sister asked me if I wanted to have Thanksgiving Dinner at her place I said yes. Hopefully all will be alright.

Planning a smallish afternoon with some close friends. The lady hosting is in her 70s so if she decides she doesn't want to host we'll respect that. If she's happy to host we figure she's all grown up and can decide for herself what she wants to do - we just make sure she knows we won't think any less of her if she would feel more comfortable without a gathering.

Since Thanksgiving is usually just the 2 of us, no changes here.

We are still having Thanksgiving at Jordan's sister's house.

Having an American Thanksgiving in Canada has been a bit weird, but I'll be prepping a turkey breast probably and watching some football. No big gathering planned. The only thing this year that makes it different is that the Lions aren't playing the Packers OR Bears. That's just wrong...

I'd love to be able to be home (Michigan) though. Missing mom and dad... :/

I'll be having surgery the day before Thanksgiving so I'm not even sure if I'll be home or still in the hospital. If all goes well I get to go home the same day but I won't be able to prepare anything so I printed out instructions for my husband and daughter to make the ravioli and the dessert. I pre-made 200 ravioli and they're in the freezer. They'll need to boil them, layer them in a pan with sauce and then cook in the oven for a half hour. The dessert is an easy one and they can follow directions for that too but need to start early in the morning.

I'm not a huge Thanksgiving fan so it doesn't bother me to not have a gathering this year.

Turns out our hostess was also planning to host someone who works at a hospital so everybody was expected to wear socks on their heads all day. That's not even a little bit relaxing for us so we decided not to go after all. Looks like we'll be having a smaller day of it than expected - neither of us is really interested in trying to talk through cloths and being afraid of everyone else in the house.

Wouldn't it be nice to know if you already had the virus? Too bad the antibody tests are so unreliable because people could go out and do more things if they knew they had some sort of immunity.

The trouble is they are saying even if you are immune you can still carry it and spread it. Presumably they don't want to give people any freedom at all to not put socks on their heads. I live pretty much as normally as possible - my personal risk assessment is that I'm more likely to die in a car wreck than catch the virus and die.

The science doesn't really back up the claim that if you are immune you can carry it and spread it...does it? I've only heard that from CNN journalists, not scientists.

I'm increasingly struggling to believe that the science backs up much of what we're told about it.

I'm wondering whose scientist we believe...the ones on CNN or the ones on FoxNews? They are radically different.
