Sources believe coronavirus originated in Wuhan lab as part of China's efforts to compete with US

EXCLUSIVE: There is increasing confidence that COVID-19 likely originated in a Wuhan laboratory, though not as a bioweapon but as part of China's attempt to demonstrate that its efforts to identify and combat viruses are equal to or greater than the capabilities of the United States, multiple sources who have been briefed on the details of early actions by China's government and seen relevant materials tell Fox News.


This may be the "costliest government cover-up of all time," one of the sources said.

The sources believe the initial transmission of the virus was bat-to-human, and that "patient zero" worked at the laboratory, then went into the population in Wuhan.

So the conspiracy theories might have some truth to them???? This is really scary stuff!

What's the source of that article?

It seems there are some theories that the virus originated in a lab as a deliberate creation, others that it was being studied in a lab and escaped, and still others that it naturally jumped between species.

Whatever the truth it does seem that the Chinese government covered up what was really going on for long enough that it could have made a huge difference. Chances are within a few weeks it will be forgotten and the people who hated the lockdowns will be rushing out spending money they don't have on doodads proudly marked "Made in China".

Personally I'm not sure I'd find a jump from bat to human in a lab studying bats to be inherently any more worrying than a jump from bat to human if someone was out exploring caves or buying something to eat that would make my stomach turn. If it did turn out to be something bioengineered (which currently looks the least likely of even the most outlandish conspiracy theories) then I'd expect crushing sanctions against China to follow.

Assuming it wasn't bioengineered the coverup is more concerning than the exact circumstances of it getting into "patient zero".

In my personal opinion it's unlikely they did this for any reason to show they could compete with handling a crisis better than the United States. If for some reason this was true and they are responsible then it's more than likely it was some type of Bio attack against the United States. However I cannot see how this is true. It may have came from some type of mosquito though that is just an assumption. Most contagious sicknesses stim from insects or mosquitoes though that could be wrong as well.
