Did you really just say that core sciences aren't. Being taught for fear of the religious? That's backwards dude.

It's not only backwards, it's reprehensible. In some parts of the U.S. the school must inform parents before evolution is taught in biology, so that they may remove their children from the class for excused absence. Such parents are in effect saying, "I don't understand evolution, and I want to protect my children from understanding it as well."

In my own school district, the religion of creationism is presented alongside the science of evolution in the science classroom as if it were actually science. It has been dressed up as "Intelligent Design" and given pseudo-scientific presentation, but no one with any background in science doesn't see it for what it is...the religion of creationism. It is a crime against our children.

That's not cool. You show hatred like a bigot. Just because we are changed slightly over time to a more efficient being based on our surroundings, that were ultimately created by God, doesn't mean that God didn't make the very laws that everything in existence is governed by.
Evolution in a way is true. But so is creation in that God created everything and knew everything and he creates and still knows.

Faith in selfless Unity for Good.

I am likened to a hateful bigot because I object to belief-based religion being presented alongside fact-based science...in the science classroom? It's not cool for me to object to our children being given a substandard education? I take education very seriously, and am passionate about it. It really bothers me to see our children cheated out of a better education.

Evolution is indisputably true, however creationism is not. Creationism is a faith-based belief, and such beliefs invariably fall into one of two categories:

  • Those which are not evidently true.
  • Those which are evidently not true.
Neither category can be claimed to be knowledge. Creationism is not science and therefore has no place whatsoever in a science classroom. Putting it there anyway is what's "not cool."

MarkFL,

Neither are proven completely within a scientific basis. One has data through observation, the other has ancient data. One can be proven to some extent by observation of reality, or the things that have been shown to us. The other is based on the things that were shown to all ancient civilization in one way or another making up a cohesive global understanding that spans ancient texts and is also based in our conscience that provides a moral system and is a very real thing. They are both a form of understanding and knowledge. Both have been manipulated by man. Both are true to some extent and together work very well for a better understanding and direction in life that will benifit all.

Faith in selfless Unity for Good.

You and I have very different ideas about what constitutes compelling evidence and knowledge. I tend to follow the actual definitions of those terms.

I would be more inclined to say that you and I both believe in God (and Science) but not in the psuedo-science that the humanists try to impose upon us. Don't forget, there are many who "follow where the science takes them" which is why there are many Scientists who acknowledge Creationism.

yes but those honest enough to follow it through to that logical conclusion are far and few between .

and not all science has even come close to explaining the inexplicable .. which is why faith must take precedence over science at all times .

science says - "Lazarus is dead".. the lord JESUS said ."Lazarus come forth and the dead lived ." he is God over his creation and never is he governed by his creation.

Show me how creationism is a logical conclusion, and not just yet another "god of the gaps."

it is only logic in that it agrees with the word of god which sates all creation is set out as evidence of the most high one true living God who made it ... and being the case leaves no excuse for any man who rebels and chooses not to seek him out to know him .
but "how" he created them ... has no explanation that can ever be comprehended by science any more then a lump of clay can say to a potter .what are you making ?..
you refuse that evidence ..
i refuse your evidence which you have never been able to produce ...
at least my evidence i offer ,you can look out the window and see .. or take another breath and know you can only do so because God has so wiled it to be .

until repentance takes place ..its a psalm 14 scenario

Being in agreement with the Bible is not a logical conclusion. And yes, I know you would refuse to accept a mathematical proof if it contradicted your holy book. You offer no evidence, only belief.

The evidence for evolution is staggering and indisputable. I have posted such evidence here many times, but it is dismissed without even a glance.

Wikipedia said:
The vast majority of the scientific community and academia supports evolutionary theory as the only explanation that can fully account for observations in the fields of biology, paleontology, molecular biology, genetics, anthropology, and others. One 1987 estimate found that "700 scientists ... (out of a total of 480,000 U.S. earth and life scientists) ... give credence to creation-science". A 1991 Gallup poll found that about 5% of American scientists (including those with training outside biology) identified themselves as creationists.

Additionally, the scientific community considers intelligent design, a neo-creationist offshoot, to be unscientific, pseudoscience, or junk science. The U.S. National Academy of Sciences has stated that intelligent design "and other claims of supernatural intervention in the origin of life" are not science because they cannot be tested by experiment, do not generate any predictions, and propose no new hypotheses of their own. In September 2005, 38 Nobel laureates issued a statement saying "Intelligent design is fundamentally unscientific; it cannot be tested as scientific theory because its central conclusion is based on belief in the intervention of a supernatural agent." In October 2005, a coalition representing more than 70,000 Australian scientists and science teachers issued a statement saying "intelligent design is not science" and calling on "all schools not to teach Intelligent Design (ID) as science, because it fails to qualify on every count as a scientific theory".

In 1986, an amicus curiae brief, signed by 72 US Nobel Prize winners, 17 state academies of science and 7 other scientific societies, asked the US Supreme Court in Edwards v. Aguillard, to reject a Louisiana state law requiring the teaching of creationism (which the brief described as embodying religious dogma). This was the largest collection of Nobel Prize winners to sign anything up to that point, providing the "clearest statement by scientists in support of evolution yet produced."

There are many scientific and scholarly organizations from around the world that have issued statements in support of the theory of evolution. The American Association for the Advancement of Science, the world's largest general scientific society with more than 130,000 members and over 262 affiliated societies and academies of science including over 10 million individuals, has made several statements and issued several press releases in support of evolution. The prestigious United States National Academy of Sciences, which provides science advice to the nation, has published several books supporting evolution and criticising creationism and intelligent design.

There is a notable difference between the opinion of scientists and that of the general public in the United States. A 2009 poll by Pew Research Center found that "Nearly all scientists (97%) say humans and other living things have evolved over time – 87% say evolution is due to natural processes, such as natural selection. The dominant position among scientists – that living things have evolved due to natural processes – is shared by only about a third (32%) of the public."

So, while those with no background in science might dispute the mass of evidence, those who have actually studied the issue overwhelmingly are led to the conclusion that evolution is a fact. When the evidence is examined, it is the only conclusion one can make.

you have never posted evidence of evolution .. and you will never be able to do so. you post lots of informations about other people's opinions and conjecture and theory and guess work .. no evidence

there is no evidence except the evidence that you're a liar and the son of your father the devil you was a liar from the beginning .
because if ANYTHING you say on the matter had ANY truth to it then you are openly practicing Blasphemy of the christian faith by calling the most high God a liar .

Why would you leave? Every forum has atheists on them and Mark is well educated and respectful. So why leave, demonstrate love and know that him being here is a good thing on so many levels. If we would devlop love toward one another perhaps he would be persuaded eventually by what he reads and sees
