Today the United States remembers those who lost their lives for our country.

Anyone KNEW someone who died in a US war?

Not me. I have a great-uncle who served as an officer on a U-Boat (German submarine) during WW II and like a LOT of those serving on U-Boats, went MIA, "missing in action." Nearly none of those who died in U-Boats were ever found or buried. Of course, he didn't die "on the wrong side" and decades before I was born. My wife also has some distant relative who died in WW II (on the right side, lol)

Maybe it's good to remember that LOTS of young men (and women and civilians) died - by the MILLIONS - on all "sides." War stinks. My pray is that there be NO MORE who die in war.

What an unfortunate message. The bald eagle is a carrion bird that feasts on the freedom of others? Well, there is a certain level of truth in that.

"Feasts on the freedom of others"?? Anti-American much?

So are the people that feed on the dregs to trash this nation and the ones who died for it

I think a former student of mine died overseas either in Iraq or Afghanistan but other than him no one comes to mind right now. I bet my Dad could name off some relatives who died while serving our country.

Over 4000 Christians were martyred in 2019. They kept the faith to the end. They are my fallen comrades who represent the Kingdom.
While I appreciate the freedom provided in the US and remember the warriors who fought to keep US citizens free, I also know that my Kingdom is in heaven and it is there to which we have our allegiance.
I remember the 4000 dead last year. I remember that nearly 2000 have already died this year. May they rejoice in glory.

You know what I find heartbreaking is that in the world wars Christians had to kill each other :(
I always wondered if that was part of revelation, that one line about "that they should kill one another"... i dunno

It reminds us that Christians are still corrupt and depraved people in this body of sin. It also brings me joy that Mennonites have chosen the path of peace over warfare. Better to move and assist others on the way than to take up arms and kill for a plot of land.

Peace work. No fighting.
Some (Hutterites, a branch of Mennonites) were martyred by the US government for refusing to fight. Most Hutterites simply picked up and moved to Canada.
Mennonites tend to hold possessions lightly.

This was a good podcast from David Bercot on what early Christians thought about war. I liken mennonites to early christians in the general sense, they seem to uphold many early Christian doctrine and beliefs, I think you would like Bercots work to be honest.
