Are there any other math fanatics here?

I am just wondering if there are others here who are into mathematics...I find it to be extremely stimulating and fascinating...anyone else?

My main gig online is to help administrate a math help site, and I really enjoy helping students gain a better understanding and appreciation for math. Not only is it satisfying to help others, but I gain a better understanding as well when giving help. Here is a quote I have always liked:

Henri Poincaré said:
One would have to have completely forgotten the history of science so as to not remember that the desire to know nature has had the most constant and the happiest influence on the development of mathematics.

I loved math when I was taking it in college but haven't had the pleasure of doing anything more than my check book in awhile.lol

What did you study and what did you find the most fascinating? For me it was differential equations as they can allow a good understanding of all kinds of classical physics. I also find recurrences to be very interesting, particularly seemingly simple linear homogeneous difference equations that give rise to the Fibonacci and Pell sequences. I also like applying calculus to analytic geometry. :D

I only needed to take advanced Algebra for my degree. I remember staying up quite late figuring out equations and the good feeling I'd get when I completed it correctly.:p

I am assuming that you are talking about what is called "College Algebra" and not "Abstract Algebra" which deals with (among other things) groups, rings, and fields?

Another math lover here! Focused on theoretical math for my undergrad, then moved to numerical math for a masters. I was a math teacher for a long time, then did a doctorate in engineering. When the kids get bigger I'd like to return and do a doctorate in math and go back to being a math teacher.

I loved math but never had that degree of difficulty
