(II Corinthians 6:14-18, 7:1) [14] Do not choose to bear the yoke with unbelievers. For how can justice be a participant with iniquity? Or how can the fellowship of light be a participant with darkness? [15] And how can Christ join together with Belial? Or what part do the faithful have with the unfaithful? [16] And what consensus does the temple of God have with idols? For you are the temple of the living God, just as God says: “I will dwell with them, and I will walk among them. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people. [17] Because of this, you must depart from their midst and be separate, says the Lord. And do not touch what is unclean. [18] Then I will accept you. And I will be a Father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty.” (II Corinthians 7:1) Therefore, having these promises, most beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of the flesh and of the spirit, perfecting sanctification in the fear of God.

Every Christian should endeavour to make just as much as possible of his privileges, and to become just as eminent as he can possibly be in his Christian profession.

Sounds like verses the Reformers may have used to justify leaving the paganism of Rome.

Perhaps
But, the idol worship and prayer to the dead by Rome is quite well documented. That's animism/paganism at its core.
The church should remove itself from such worldly and ungodly behavior.
501 years removed...by God's ordained will.

One quietly chuckles at the above reply.

Too bad. You should openly weep over your denomination.

No, no, you misunderstand me, I chuckle at the absurd conclusions in your warning messages.

I don't misunderstand your unwillingness to weep over your denomination.

You are unaware.

Your posts are so funny!

Do you not realise that this thread is about a passage of holy scripture?

Surely you do.

Just to jog your failing memory

The passage is ...

[18] Then I will accept you. And I will be a Father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty.” [7:1] Therefore, having these promises, most beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of the flesh and of the spirit, perfecting sanctification in the fear of God.

Do you not see the connection in scripture between the Corinthians need to stay away from the world and churches staying away from Rome.

People in Rome need churches as much as any other city.

Your posts are such a hoot!

Which is why I stay away from the Roman denomination.
