I was going to ask in the Mother of God thread, but thought it would be best not to take it off topic.

So my question is this, how would you say Mary is blessed?

Why get into this if you don't even participate in your own threads?

She is the Mother of our Lord (that's a good start!)

This would really be better handled privately, rather than derailing the thread.

Stir the pot most likely.

The way I see it, this post is stirring the pot, not the OP.

[unm]George[/unm] decided the topic of this thread would not be on-topic for the other thread, so he conscientiously decided to begin a new thread. This is no reason for him to be criticized, IMHO.

she was blessed with the honour of baering forth the manifestation of the word of God in the flesh into the world .. and that honor as being that person will be remembered eternally .. that's a pretty massive blessing in itself .

now can we get back to glorifying the LORD JESUS and stop this mary adoration veneration.. after all .. he is our lord not her .

I carefully thought before I posted...I am an atheist so any kind of admonition is potentially going to be resented even more than if they come from a Christian...I can appreciate and understand that fact. While I have years of moderating/administrating experience on a variety of sites, my role here as staff is really more technical than administrative. However, I chose to give my opinion on the issues arising in this thread as staff. I apologize if this rubs people the wrong way...I only saw what I felt was unfair criticism and simply gave my opinion on it for all to see. No one should consider their hand slapped or admonished at all. :)

Wouldn't be a first time a joke has been misinterpreted. Probably my humour.

So my question is this, how would you say Mary is blessed?

Blessed Mary is blessed because God did great things for her; Mary expresses it in a Spirit inspired hymn to God's goodness:
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
my spirit rejoices in God my Savior
for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.
From this day all generations will call me blessed:
the Almighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his Name.

He has mercy on those who fear him
in every generation.
He has shown the strength of his arm,
he has scattered the proud in their conceit.

He has cast down the mighty from their thrones,
and has lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent away empty.

He has come to the help of his servant Israel
for he remembered his promise of mercy,
the promise he made to our fathers,
to Abraham and his children forever.

(Lk 1:46-55)

Lyrics:
Magnificat anima mea Dominum,
et exsultavit spiritus meus in Deo salvatore meo,
quia respexit humilitatem ancillae suae.
Ecce enim ex hoc beatam me dicent omnes generationes,
quia fecit mihi magna,
qui potens est,
et sanctum nomen eius,
et misericordia eius in progenies et progenies
timentibus eum.
Fecit potentiam in brachio suo,
dispersit superbos mente cordis sui;
deposuit potentes de sede
et exaltavit humiles;
esurientes implevit bonis
et divites dimisit inanes.
Suscepit Israel puerum suum,
recordatus misericordiae,
sicut locutus est ad patres nostros,
Abraham et semini eius in saecula.
