Spent much of the day pondering my next move with the house renovation, and tidying up some code for the project I've been working on. The next demonstration version is almost ready for release to the client. I think they will like it. I certainly hope so.

What kind of job did he find?

My daughter moved out here to be with us this month and is currently looking for a new job. She wants art related employment since that was one of her degrees.

He's going to be working in a factory that makes parts for school buses. I'm actually hoping he hates it and decides to go to college. Right now he doesn't want to continue going to school

Maybe he can look at a trade school if he doesn't feel college is a good fit for him? I'm all for trade schools! They're better at qualifying students for jobs these days than a regular college degree. Now it seems everyone has to go and get a masters after college in order to get a job for their degree. That makes no sense for some jobs that I've seen!

True, these days a lot of the time it seems there's more and more inflation in the stated job requirements, more and more things are becoming degree courses, and more and more students are being spat out of the sausage machine with honking great amounts of debt and no way of realistically ever paying it off.

I'm waiting for the day you need a degree in mopping the floor to work at McDonalds.

My daughter will be awake soon so we can go for a 4.2 mile hike. It's supposed to rain today but the trees should cover us well enough where we're going.

I have four online counseling sessions spread out throughout the day. I have already had one. I am also seeing my diabetic doctor today to discuss my A1C test and how I'm doing

Wow. My daughter and I did our walk and once we got into the car and drove a quarter of a mile it began to pour! We were so fortunate :)

My last decent hike was less lucky. I was expecting light showers but didn't expect to be walking in the rain for miles. After two hours in the rain I decided to call quits and called my wife to come and get me. Had she not, I'd have had another five miles to go in the rain. I could have done it, it just wouldn't have been a whole lot of fun.

I should start carrying our little rain ponchos in my camelbak. You carry a back pack don't you? I think I remember you saying you carry extra bottles of water. We put my daughter's bottle of water in my camelbak along with bug spray. We spray ourselves at the beginning of the trail but once we start sweating on the way back, that's when the bugs get worse. So having that can of spray is nice. My back is getting stronger from carrying all this stuff! LOL

Depending on how far I'm walking I sometimes carry a backpack. My usual go-to route is about six miles and for that I typically just carry two water bottles in my hands. They have loops on them. Two bottles gives me 48oz of water which is enough for that route unless the day is unusually hot.

For longer walks I'll carry a backpack with an extra water brick or two (each one contains 64oz), extra cereal bars etc. I struggle with exertion wearing waterproof gear - it ends up being a choice whether I'd rather be wet from the rain or wet from sweat condensing inside the waterproof and running down it.

This weekend is going to be so much fun. It seems my web hosting provider has suffered a failure so bad they have lost all my web sites, all my emails, and all their backups. So I get to spend my weekend doing what I thought I was paying them to do, and regenerating all my web sites. Just what I wanted to be doing.

We recently bought some sanitary wipes for our walks since there are a lot of dogs on this newer trail we've been on. They're off leash so they come up to us with their wet bodies after swimming in the creek and going through poison ivy. Poison ivy doesn't affect them but my daughter had it really bad this summer and it made her hand go numb! So we're extra careful now. I point out it whenever I see it and I take the side of the trail that has it because if one of us is going to get it I want it to be me more than her.

Doing research on an area trail. My daughter and I met an older guy in the parking lot who said when his kids were younger (they're my age now) they would drive along the then road to go swimming in the creek. There are ruins along the way so I'm trying to find out more of the history. It's interesting.
