Pulled down some more of my walls and filled another couple of bags of rubble and nails and stuff. The count is back to 17 so a trip to the landfill is in order soon.

I also figured that a lot of my problems with stud depths can be solved far more easily than I originally feared. Which is nice.

Just to keep things interesting I also had a chat with my neighbor. There's a wall between our yards that needs a lot of work and neither of us is sure which of us is responsible for it. We went over our deeds together and measured and we're still not sure.

How about each paying for half? Where I used to live, anything bordering two houses meant the neighbors each went in half to do repairs or put up new fences.

It might come to that, it's just that for something that's likely to cost five figures neither of us really wants to pay for it unless we need to. There's some other work on his side that will also need doing that's unlikely to be cheap.

If the border line runs along the wall it may be that we're both responsible for it but if it's one side or the other one of us gets stuck with an ugly bill.

Is the wall needed? Is it a retaining wall?

It is a retaining wall, and as far as I can see the only viable option other than rebuilding the wall would be to formally move the boundary between his land and mine. If it proves to be his responsibility to fix the wall it might be a desirable option for him to avoid the bill. If it proves to be my wall it becomes potentially attractive to buy some land from him. Of course all this depends on whether he is interesting in selling a strip of land to me and what the legal costs would be.

Retaining walls can get very costly, so try to plan it all out with pros and cons! I remember a small retaining wall that was done at a friend's church and everything had been donated and it was only manpower needed but it still took a lot of time to do it correctly.

Tested and adjusted my nice new nail gun. Tomorrow I'm hoping to burn the rest of my laths, which will clear a nice space in the middle of the floor where I'm working. Then I can take another radiator off the wall, strip the rest of the wall and fit some insulation panels. Hopefully I'll be able to put drywall on before too awful long. I just need to figure out where I'm going to put the drywall sheets....

Just burned the last piles of laths. I was burning for nearly an hour and a half but now they are all gone. There will be more pulled off the walls but for now I have a nice big empty space where a huge pile of laths used to be.

My boss' stand- in called me today and told me to prepare for an insane shift, so I've been meditating, I took out my Lutheran Book of Prayers and said the prayers in memory of my baptism and confirmation, made an act of confession and prayed for joy in my vocation, in addition to my regular pre- work prayer for a prosperous day. I'm feeling very still in spirit and nearly ready to take on my shift.

Feeling sleepy. Not that I've done much today aside from burn a big pile of laths, went to a friend's cabin in the woods and sat around for most of the afternoon.
