Finding out I didn't get a position that I have 16 YEARS EXPERIENCE doing. They were looking for full time AND casual employees. NONE. DIDN'T GET IT.
The world can take a leap

My grandma passed away.
I was very agitated and distant at work this morning and then around noon it hit me and I started crying so they sent me home.
Got home and cried and prayed and listened to some Catholic sermons on death (she was a Catholic) and it really did help me but Im still in a isolated mood.
I sorta lashed out at Menno in the Justification thread so I think I might just take a short hiatus from CH until I feel ok again.
We grieve and weep because we miss them... But rejoice because we know that they are with Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Gods Eternal Kingdom of Heaven :)

My deepest condolences to you and your family. You will mourn but remember that you'll see her again. It's okay to cry for the departed...even Jesus shed a tear.

Slapping away mosquitoes. Living in the DC area can be a real pain sometimes.

We do not mourn as the pagans who have no hope. It doesn't mean we don't mourn, we just don't mourn as those who have no hope mourn. For those who have no hope death is the end, for those of us with hope we mourn the passing of a loved one but knowing that we will see them again in heaven.

As you say we weep because we have suffered a loss but rejoice that our loved ones are now in the place where there is no more sorrow and no more pain.

I went to the hardware store to get a honking great lump of wood. Actually two lumps of wood - 10-foot long pieces of 2x8 treated lumber to make replacement joists in my basement. They wouldn't fit in the car so I cut them to length in the parking lot. I need three-foot lengths, which was handy because I could cut them to about 37 inches to give myself a little wiggle room, and have a bit left over on the final piece.

I didn't expect the total bill to be so high but the construction grade screws don't come cheap. The screws I already had - many different sizes and shapes - were all for non-load bearing applications. Because what I need is something to hold the floor in place I need heavier duty ones.

I also got a couple of extra caps for my radiator pipes so I can continue to work without having to stuff more paper towels into place.

You brought your saw to the hardware store? LOL Pretty clever!

I know they will cut boards to size but don't think they will cut regular 2x8 lumber, so figured I'd do it myself. My circular saw is battery powered so I just put it in a bag with a pencil and tape measure, and got busy cutting.

A friend of mine has a rip fence and he's been known to cut boards to size to fit them into his car in the parking lot. Although they will cut boards their tolerance is a little loose so if you need it cut with a tolerance of less than maybe half an inch or so it's probably better to do it yourself.
