Pretty much how my morning is going too.... since I have to wait to get the radiators off the wall it throws everything back a few days. I can use the time to research the merits of using plastic pipework instead of metal. It may cost a little more to set up but should be much easier to work with. I can't fit a 10-foot length of pipe in my car and don't really want my plumbing to be a cobbled together collection of pieces short enough to fit, with connectors every few feet. Flexible plastic pipework overcomes that quite nicely.

Plastic doesn't rust either!

We went for a walk. It's muggy out and my allergies wouldn't let me walk too long.

I signed up for a 5k next month so I have been getting ready for that by running on the roads instead of the treadmill. I did about an hour of running/walking today outside. I'm not anywhere near ready for a 5K, so I am a little concerned

You will be motivated by the others in the race so don't give up hope yet! :)

The pipes I have now seem to be all but indestructible. I think the house once had a gravity-based system with huge great pipes, that were then partly replaced and partly reused for ever-more modern systems. Now it looks like I've got a pumped system with pipes that chop and change between copper and threaded galvanized pipes. Threaded pipes seem like a hassle - you have to start at one end to unravel anything because otherwise you can't unthread anything. That, and the feeling of cast iron pipes at head height when you forget they are at head height, seem like good reasons to take the cost on the chin and get rid of them.

... while reading about plumbing fixtures. I'm wondering whether putting in a hot water manifold, a cold water manifold, and radiator manifolds, is a sensible proposition. It would mean going through a big pile of pipe but should make it much easier to adapt everything as I work my way through the house. It would be great to have drain valves on every radiator and every section of plumbing so I could isolate and drain each individual part if I needed to.

I went to a local Baptist church this morning that I haven't been to in years. I like the church I have been attending, but it is so large I was feeling lost in it

Went to try a new restaurant today and had wings. They were very good. Not my absolute favorites because that place is an hour away but this is 2nd place now and is only 35 minutes away.

Sometimes "local" pubs (if there are any by you) are the best bet. It may take some driving to a near-by town, though

Every restaurant seems to be a drive since I live in the country :D LOL We don't eat fast food at all unless we travel and then it's the cheapest option on the toll road service stations to get fast food. The mom and pops restaurants and local taverns do have the best food.

Where we used to live it was unheard of us traveling more than 10 minutes for food! Now we'll definitely go for an hour's drive to get the best wings LOL

Waiting for my dad to come home... he is in Sugarland TX with his sisters saying goodbye to my grandma before they let her go.
She was in a car accident a few months back and has been transported back and forth from nursing home to downtown ICU for unresponsive stroke related comas.
89 years old and has 8 strokes/heart attacks (since the accident, not clear exactly sure if it was heart attacks or strokes) and she had a major one this morning, they revived her when she was ready to go so now she is on life support and they are making the decision.
I welcome your prayers as I hope she passes quickly and painlessly.
She is my saint in faith, her spirit is amazing because she never complains and we always -by experience -expect her to wake up and smile and laugh and tell her stories!
Never once have I ever heard her utter angry words of complaint or seen any attitude in her facial expression :)
Some of you may remember.. She was a Catholic and had an experience while at church where her rosary glowed!
She prayed for me and everyone she could think of every night!
She wants to be buried with that rosary GOD BLESS HER AND YOU WILL BE MISSED GRANDMA DOROTHY HOFFMANN!

I'm so sorry about your grandma's health not being good. Being a person of faith and having led a long life she most likely awaits the arms of the Lord :)
