Hi Ruth I am doing ok but have to get a hip replacement here soon, going to VA the 3rd to discuss surgery and I assume shortly thereafter to get it done. Dog is fine but old

Just an update for any who might care; we sent my son to an in house or residential program for adolescents.

It is under the United Methodist Church.... I'm hoping for the best.

One hip or both? My neighbor had both hips replaced one at a time and he's doing good. It went well. I hope it goes well for you, too. Glad dog is fine. Suzy had ear infections this week and I got meds, the vet was very reasonable in the expense!

Right now it is the left hip. good to hear that Suzy is doing well

Got a treatment plan for my son in residential program.

Notice on bottom says he will likely need medication and therapy for the rest of his life...the doc that recommended the place said the goal was to get him wholly off all drugs; meds and/or self medication. My son is miserable and getting more angry. I can relate to all of this and do not really see the point in labeling one as having to rely on medication and therapy for the rest of their life. What sort of toll does that put on the mind in itself? How crippling to one's percieved potential? I am considering pulling him out of the program as of now.

Mr Bill; when did you start experiencing significant hip discomfort? At what age if you don't mind. Did you lead exceptionally active lifestilyle causing excessive wear....just wondering....at 37 my joints are failing.....my own hip and leg pain has increased recently.

The onset was sudden, last year I was 68, before that nothing. X-ray showed that I have osteoarthritis and it is bone on bone pretty much and yes my lifestyle was active but not so mucy the last few years.
