The 2,000-year-old, discarded bottle of 100% grape juice appears to have been used in lieu of wine at the traditional Jewish meal. The find finally lends biblical and historical support for the practice of using grape juice instead of wine at Communion, as many denominations have done for years. While many had assumed the Rabbi and His followers drank regular wine during the festivities, this theory is now all but disproved by this exciting find.

It is hard to date plastic but we have the dating nailed down because the label was stamped AD 33.

I know this is satire, but on a serious note there is no question in my mind whether or not the "wine" was a fermented drink.

The Last Supper occurs during the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Although this is common knowledge and the practice of eating unleavened bread is still practiced by the Jews and to a limited extent by Christians during communion, the actual title may be misleading in that the rules of the Festival actually exclude all products made with yeast. That includes not only bread, but all alcohol products as well.

As institutional religions both practicing Judaism and Christianity disobey these rules, the former by including fermented wine and the latter by not celebrating the Feast at all except in a truncated version of it.

THAT EXPLAINS EVERYTHING.....

Those Protestants who insist (on the internet) that we can't do anything that's not illustrated in the NT have for years been celebrating Communion four times a year by passing around to everyone sitting in pews, with a bowl of little cut up pieces of Webers White Bread and little plastic cups of Welch's grape juice! Now we know why! Are they looking for the little plastic cups? And pews? And the internet?

The deacons must have picked up the little plastic cups. Someone needs to look in the Kidron Valley and see if they got thrown away
