Really not much today. Relaxed, played a video game, snuggled my new friend while it was in my place for the short time it stays, played piano and watched some videos.

Checked the potency of some herb I've had over 2 years (properly stored). :) It's still good.

Working on a little more music as opposed to playing tons of Bach and just doing a little improvising. I'm pleased...just need to write it down or eventually I'll forget it.

We are currently getting freezing rain here this Sunday morning. I'm not driving on this due to possible ice, so I am listening to a sermon online at the church I was going to go to

It's snowing here. I have a bad sinus headache due to the weather (my nose senses weather changes).

Relaxing in my recliner.

The room I've been working on, that previously felt like there's a permanent chill in the air, no longer feels cold and the temperature is showing 57 degrees in there. That's not bad, given the heating for the adjacent areas is set to 61 degrees and there's no heater in the room itself. It's also pleasing, given it was two days ago that I found the ugly hole that went right through to the outside, and the air coming in was below freezing.

No building work is planned for today... going to take a day of rest :)

Sat around doing remarkably little this afternoon. The temperature in the room I was fixing up is holding steady at 57 degrees despite it being below freezing outside. I feel pleased with that. Still a few more gaps to fill but obviously the major ones are done now.

Started this morning shoveling snow. I don't care for shoveling snow. Every winter I think about getting a small ATV with a blade so I can just push the snow, and every spring I forget about it until the next year.

Now I'm just trying to get motivated to shift a load of stuff out of my study. I need to move my computers and some of my more delicate precision tools out of the room. Then I plan to have a friend help me shift the furniture away from the outside wall, cover everything with dust sheets and tarpaulins (taped in place to leave no gaps at all), and then I'm going to pull down that section of wall.

I didn't want to be doing it just yet but having seen what a difference fixing the wall surface has made in the adjacent room I'd like to get on with it. Once the work is done and cleaned up I can shift stuff back into place, and it will mean my study isn't constantly cold.

Frustration With Boxes. Trying to build a box using a dado stack that seems to run wide for reasons I have yet to figure out, and also has an annoying tendency to not clear out the entirety of a groove it cuts. So having cut grooves I ended up having to go over them again and again with a chisel to try and level them out so that my joints would fit. Sadly along the way I made one of them too wide, so the whole thing is a bit floppy.

A dab of glue and it kinda-sorta works, it just isn't as pretty as I'd like it to be. But as my first ever attempt at a complete box I don't suppose I can complain too loudly.

Maybe tomorrow I'll try again using only my regular table saw blade. It will take a little longer at the saw but hopefully will require less time fiddling with a chisel afterwards. I can also hope that everything will end up straight and square, so I can just get on with gluing it all together.

I've just been watching a bunch of videos about creating just this kind of joint using a router, so maybe I'll be building myself a router table before long. Of course I'll need to buy a router as well....

Over the last two days I have gotten sick. It started with coughing and then body ache and now I just feel horrible. I just did a evisit online with the doctor so i should be getting a prescription in the next hour or so. I'm glad I don't have to go into a doctor's office and sit in a germ infested waiting room.

Is it the flu or a respiratory illness? Get well soon. Sometimes the cough is the worst part to get over!

I'm not sure. I don't have a fever. This is the first time in a couple of years I have been this sick.

Could it be because you're exposed to more people now with the new job?

Sitting here wondering why people don't even read things before posting an opinion against what THEY THINK was written. So curious why that happens more often now.
