Today I achieved more or less nothing. I woke late with a stuffy head and have barely moved from my recliner all day. Sometimes a day like that is just what the doctor ordered :)

Although perhaps I'll take my measure and have another go at figuring out where my elusive cable may emerge. At least then the day won't be totally wasted.

Today was tiring, but I did practice my typing and I saw my job coach. I'm getting ready to get some sleep.

Typing? I'm FAST :D I took a typing class in high school and that really helped! My husband laughs at me because I type and watch tv at the same time!

Ha.. I remember many years ago when I first graduated from university and just wanted to find a stopgap job while I looked for something more permanent. At the time it was pretty much assumed that a secretary was a woman, typically a young woman, and that men who needed something typed would simply write it and ask their secretary to type it. One agency was very sneery at me and assumed I couldn't type 40-50 words per minute. When I insisted I could and agreed to take a test it was obvious they were expecting me to fail it catastrophically. When the (very patronising) agent came in to see how I was getting on and saw I had already finished the test with a score of slightly over 85 words per minute her face was priceless.

Good job!!

I had a Project Manager ask me to type up something as he dictated live and he was impressed and said, "Wow! You're a beast!" LOL

In my university days when dumb terminals were still around I used to irritate people because I'd be doing something like typiing on one keyboard while looking at a different screen. One time someone came into the computer room to find me and when I turned around to talk to them and my typing barely slowed they seemed surprised. What really got them was when I made a typing mistake and without even looking knew how many times to hit the backspace key and correct it.

At one of my early jobs one of the other guys in the office was aware I was typing much more slowly than usual and looked across to see I was holding the phone. All he had to say was "please tell me you aren't typing one handed" because even one handed I was typing as fast as he typed (this was a job in IT, so fast typing was useful rather than critical).

Just got done shovelling snow. Our driveway often doesn't seem very big when it comes to parking cars on it, but somehow grows when it's time to clear the snow from it. Not sure how that happens...

I'm reading about Lutherans in Slovakia: http://metrolutheran.org/2010/08/slovak-lutherans-a-tough-minded-people/ These guys really seem to have gone through all kinds of grief to retain their faith.
Lol, I gotta laugh, bc even tho I know the text is about slovaks being tough-minded people,
the way the link was written in your original post (I guess to abbreviate the link) it actually says:
'slo...minded people'
Lol, and I get to laff, bc some of my ancestry is slovak.
(And yes, I fully expect the sarcastic humor to fly now) :disgonbegood:

Finally got an outside porch light fitted. I'm not happy with the job but it's the best I can do because of the shape of the house wall and stuff. I'm going to try and find a light with a fitting that will better fit into the hideous space I'm trying to work with. If not for the fact there was a light there before and associated holes in the wall I'd just plaster over it all and be done with it.

Then spent some time in the basement hunting cold spots. Found a draft around one small window. I'd done some work on it before but now I've got more precise measuring instruments I could see lots of cold spots, and found a couple of new drafts that I dealt with. Now I need a new tube of caulking.

I just started a new book: Fantasyland: How America went Haywire: A 500- Year History, by Kurt Andersen. It's a fairly thought- provoking book, but it's provoking in a lot of other ways, too. I'm not willing to dismiss the author's conclusions just yet, but there are a few issues I disagree with him on.
