Please share what you find humorous in the Bible

When a wealthy man asked Jesus what he must do to get into heaven and he tells him to sell all of his belongings and give the money to the poor, the man runs off lol
"How hard it is for a rich man to get into heaven"

Pharaoh: "tell me, who is he who sent you?"

Moses: "I AM!"

I bet you guys can do better, im waiting out a hurricane and got bored.

I think Jesus used humor far more than we realize. We just don't always read it that way. or perhaps we have read it so many times that some of us have become deaf to it. When Jesus says in Matthew 7;9-10 "or what man is there among you, when his son shall ask for a loaf, will give him a stone? Or if he shall ask for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he?" The absurb idea that a man would give him a snake was meant as a joke. The crowd here this and says "Of course not! With a laugh."

one of the sad things about the church today is it has made Jesus so critical and boring. In most churches he resembles more a Pharisee than who he really was. Jesus had a sense of humor. You ever see a giraffe up close? Whoever made that had a sense of humor

Exactly, its never addressed to "bored again Catholics".
We are created in Gods image, he is full of emotions, humans=humor?
It wouldnt be a bad idea for someone to put a book out inspired by humour in the bible, I know i would buy it, many believers are not as children like they should be.

The book of Jonah is a humorous parody on Israel's relationship to God under the character of a run-away prophet.

Yes and when God just saved his life from the whale and then he says he wants to die.
God prepared a worm. That's John Cleese humor. He's mocking his pity party.

Therefore now, O Lord, please take my life from me, for it is better for me to die than to live!”

4 Then the Lord said, “Is it right for you to be angry?”

5 So Jonah went out of the city and sat on the east side of the city. There he made himself a shelter and sat under it in the shade, till he might see what would become of the city. 6 And the Lord God prepared a plant[a] and made it come up over Jonah, that it might be shade for his head to deliver him from his misery. So Jonah was very grateful for the plant. 7 But as morning dawned the next day God prepared a worm, and it so damaged the plant that it withered. 8 And it happened, when the sun arose, that God prepared a vehement east wind; and the sun beat on Jonah’s head, so that he grew faint. Then he wished death for himself, and said, “It is better for me to die than to live.”

God had His people in the desert and they were crying to Him because they wanted to eat meat. They kept up their whining and crying so God's reply to the was...

‘Consecrate yourselves in preparation for tomorrow, when you will eat meat. The Lord heard you when you wailed, “If only we had meat to eat! We were better off in Egypt!” Now the Lord will give you meat, and you will eat it. You will not eat it for just one day, or two days, or five, ten or twenty days, but for a whole month—until it comes out of your nostrils and you loathe it...' Numbers 18-20

Lately I was making debts to help my ex and his wife out and I was kinda grumpy about it and LOL now all the time I have to think of that verse: gimme first a small cook.
You have this widow. She has absolutely nothing. She has to feed her kid shes totally depressed how on earth do we get food and LOL then he comes around and from that tiny stuff she has for her son he wants a cook first.
:;-D:
That's hilarious.

Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying, 9 “Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. See, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.

Elijah's wickedly sarcastic treatment of the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel is a favorite.
Paul's wishing the legalist's would slip with the knife while they circumcised themselves makes me chuckle.
Jesus comments to his mom at the wedding make me smile.

I wish those who unsettle you would emasculate themselves! ( Galatians 5:12). St. Paul expressing his irritation at those who insisted on circumcision.

23*Paul looked at the Sanhedrin and said, “Brothers, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day.” 2*The high priest Ananias ordered those who stood by him to strike him on the mouth. 3*Then Paul said to him, “God will strike you, you whitewashed wall! Do you sit judging me according to the law, yet order me to be struck contrary to the law?”
4*Those who stood by said, “Do you criticize God’s high priest?”
5*Paul said, “Brothers, I did not know that he was the high priest. For it is written, ‘You shall not speak evil of the ruler of your people.’[a]”
6*Then Paul, knowing that one sect were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, cried out among the Sanhedrin, “Brothers, I am a Pharisee, a son of a Pharisee. I am being judged for my hope in the resurrection of the dead.” 7*When he had said this, dissension arose between the Pharisees and the Sadducees, and the assembly was divided. 8*For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, nor angel, nor spirit. But the Pharisees acknowledge them all.
( Acts 23:1-8)

There's a lot of wry humor on St. Paul's part here: his retort when the High Priest had him slapped, his claim that he didn't recognize the High Priest and just an ounce of " merry mischief" when he threw the theological differences between the Pharisees and Sadducees in their faces and the Pharisees decided he must be innocent, after all.

Not really 'humorous' per se, but it involves Elisha, some kids, and bears.

One could say that God’s humour runs deep.

Isaiah 14:12-14 is seen by many to be a window opening up, giving us a glimpse of Satan and his desires.
Isaiah 14:12-14: “12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

Satan's desire was to be like God.

(We see from other Scripture that part of Satan's plan was to recruit a team of rebellious angels, and to corrupt the peak of God's physical creation, mankind.)

==============================================================================================

Jesus on the other hand, did not seek to be like God.

Philippians 2:5-8: “5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,
6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,
7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.
8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
” (ESV)

==============================================================================================

Because Jesus didn't, God rewarded Him greatly:

Philippians 2:9-11: “9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Mark 18:19: “So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.

Acts 7:55: “But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,

Hebrews 10:12: “But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

John 5:26: “For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;

==============================================================================================

And what is said about true Christians?

1 Peter 1:3,4: “3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

1 John 3:2: “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

==============================================================================================

And here we see God's deep humour in play.

The one who seeks to exalt himself is humbled by God.

The One who humbles Himself is exalted by God.

And members of the race corrupted by the arrogant one, are likewise exalted, much to the chagrin of him who sought exaltation.

That just blows Pedrito's mind.

Matthew 5:39 --- “But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.” --- In an honour/shame, domination/submission culture such as existed in the first century in the Middle East, this saying has a far different meaning than a straightforward reading of it might indicate. If a man were to strike a social equal, he would strike him with the palm of his right hand on the left cheek. However if a man were to slap a social inferior he would do so with the back of his hand to the inferior’s right cheek. If the inferior were then to turn his other cheek it would force his assailant to treat him as a social equal by striking with the palm of his right hand. Since slapping is no longer a widespread cultural practice, it can be helpful if you could actually act this out with another person. Jesus’ audience likely would have had a good laugh at his comment. Jesus is not counseling humility here, he is counseling a covert defiance.

Matthew 5:40 ---“If someone sues you for your coat, give up your shirt as well.” --- In Jewish law if you fail to repay a debt you may be taken to court and if you are still unable to repay, the lender is entitled to take your coat. The lender holds the coat during the day but he is obliged to return it at night because the coat or cloak doubled as a blanket at night. In a two-garment society this would be highly embarrassing to the debtor. However it would be even more embarrassing to the court and the lender if the debtor were to turn over both garments and stand there naked. Remember this was a society with a strong taboo against public nakedness. Using this somewhat risque humour Jesus is once again counseling covert defiance and taking the part of the poor against the rich. I'll bet his audience laughed out loud. Humour is a great aid to the memory.

I was just reading John 2 and Jesus being at the wedding in Cana. I love the dialogue between Jesus and his mom.
Mary is so pushy and ignores Jesus question. She just tells the servants to do what Jesus tells them. So what does Jesus do? He has the servants fill up enough barrels to make nearly 180 gallons of wine. LOL, 180 gallons...is that good enough for ya, mom!!!
