In the sermon this week the pastor I heard mentioned that there are a lot of voices or people and things that demand our attention. We have a choice about what we allow ourselves to fix our thoughts on. He referred to passages such as Prov 4:23, Romans 12:2 and 2 Corinthians 10:5 and Proverbs 4:8. His two points were
1. Think about what your thinking about.
2. Direct your thoughts don't just have them.
This is similiar to what I have said for years in my counseling practice using cognitive behavioral therapy. In fact, it sounds more like a therapist talking than a pastor. But, the Bible does say a lot about transforming and renewing our thinking.
