The gospel tells us that Jesus was homeless and hence was dependent on the charity of others for a place to sleep and for food. The apostolic band had a common purse (meaning that they shared whatever money they had). If Jesus was homeless and had to sleep under the stars sometimes and if he depended on charity what does that tell you about homeless people in your own town and your own city?

Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandment to depart unto the other side. And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.
Matthew 8:18-22

Kinda makes you wonder what those who preach and teach the prosperity gospel would make of that.
paul seemed to spend most of his ministry living as a nomad

I wonder what homelessness tells me about being a Christian. Prosperity gospel preaching has its own problems but how do I react to the poverty of others. I know I give to charity and to charities that help the local poor including homeless people but I wonder what Jesus asks of me by being homeless himself.

I thought He had a house but He just travelled everywhere. If He tells you to help someone do it. We once took a guy in our home who just got kicked out of his house cause he hadnt paid rent in months. It was an old friend of my ex. He hadn't seen him in years. God told him to call him and he was just kicked on the street. Stayed w us a few months, then he got a cheap home for himself in that city.
