Do you sleep with your door open or closed? Why?

Closed. We have some nightlights in the landing and if the door is open the light shining in disturbs me. We leave the nightlights on because there are a couple of particularly dark corners that can sometimes play tricks with the eyes in the night.

It doesn't bother me - I don't mind moving about the house in total darkness - but my wife doesn't like dark corners much.

Closed. The reason for this is fire safety. I once read an article that compared how fire spreads in a home with open bedroom doors and closed bedroom doors. The rooms with closed doors were essentially untouched, providing ample time for its occupants to escape through the window. If the doors were open, however, the flames were practically invited into a room full of fresh oxygen and flammable linens, putting the occupants at a much greater risk.
